Iowa Recruiting Spotlight: Quarterback

As we begin our position-by-position breakdown of Iowa’s recruiting, the natural place to start is the quarterback position where the Hawkeyes have their Class of 2024 signal caller and are now looking to add one in the Class of 2025 as well. We dive into all of the details, the names, the hits and misses, and much more in this update.
Iowa’s Class of 2024
The Hawkeyes wrapped up their quarterback recruiting for the Class of 2024 early on with a commitment from Jacksonville, FL native James Resar back in September of 2022. A 6-foot-4, 204-pounder with great track speed, including a best of 10.67 in the 100-meter dash, Resar is quite an intriguing prospect for the Hawkeyes. Last year, as a junior, he finished the season 127/211 passing for 1,992 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions and had 496 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns on the ground for Bishop Kenny High School. Resar chose Iowa over scholarship offers from North Carolina, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Toledo, Western Kentucky, and Georgia Southern.
Class of 2024 Misses
None really. Once Ken O’Keefe retired and Brian Ferentz took over as quarterbacks coach, Resar was the first prospect that he offered in the Class of 2024 and ultimately landed him, so he clearly got his guy in this year’s recruiting class.
Iowa’s Class of 2025 Top Targets
To date, the Iowa Hawkeyes have offered four quarterbacks in the Class of 2025, which are Alex Manske, Bryce Underwood, Stone Saunders, and Blake Hebert, who has since committed to Clemson. Manske, an Algona, IA native, is the natural one to focus on for now even if he grew up more of an Iowa State fan. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder earned an offer after an impressive throwing performance at Iowa’s camp in June and remains a top target for the Hawkeyes. Other scholarship offers for Manske currently include Kansas State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Pittsburgh.
