Iowa Offensive Snap Counts – Michigan State
Iowa’s offense was able to do just enough, finishing with 15 first downs and 222 total yards in a 26-16 victory over Michigan State at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday night.
In this feature, we dive into the snap counts from Pro Football Focus to see how much each player was on the field for the Hawkeye offense.
Quarterback
Deacon Hill – 51 snaps
Cade McNamara – 9 snaps
Analysis: McNamara got off to a good start Saturday night, completing 3/5 passes for 46 yards, but then unfortunately was carted off with a left leg injury in the first quarter, so it was Hill under center the rest of the way for the Hawkeyes. Hill finished 11/27 passing for 115 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the game.
Running Back/Fullback
Leshon Williams – 31 snaps
Kamari Moulton – 18 snaps
Terrell Washington – 8 snaps
Hayden Large – 5 snaps
Analysis: With Kaleb Johnson and Jaziun Patterson still out due to injury, Leshon Williams got the start again for the Hawkeyes and finished with 12 carries for 38 yards, but also had a costly fumble that was returned for a Michigan State touchdown. Moulton had nine carries for 25 yards and Washington chipped in with one carry for three yards.
Tight End
Erick All – 41 snaps
Steven Stilianos – 35 snaps
Addison Ostrenga – 30 snaps
Analysis: All led the Iowa offense with four catches for 67 yards and one touchdown on Saturday night. Stilianos hauled in three catches for 25 yards and Ostrenga was targeted once, but had no receptions in the game.
Wide Receiver
Diante Vines – 50 snaps
Seth Anderson – 41 snaps
Nico Ragaini – 34 snaps
Kaleb Brown – 7 snaps
Analysis: Vines led the group with three catches for 25 yards, but also had three drops in the game. Ragaini had two catches for 18 yards and one drop and Anderson finished with one catch for 11 yards.
Offensive Line
Mason Richman – 60 snaps
Rusty Feth – 60 snaps
Logan Jones – 60 snaps
Gennings Dunker – 60 snaps
Nick DeJong – 51 snaps
Connor Colby – 9 snaps
Analysis: Feth got the start at left guard with Colby missing practice most of the week due to an injury from the Penn State game. He was available to play, however, and came in during the fourth quarter after DeJong went down with an arm injury.
