Iowa men’s and women’s foreign tour schedule announced

Hawkeye fans have known for some time that the men’s and women’s basketball teams would be playing overseas in early August. What we didn’t know was when they would be playing and who would be their opponents.
Now we have the answer to those questions. As was previously announced, both teams will play three games. Now we have dates, times, and opponents to share. What we don’t know is the players on any of the teams and the overall level of competition.
Let’s start with Caitlin Clark and the Iowa women’s team. They are scheduled to depart on Friday, August 4th for Italy. Here’s the rundown of the games they will play.
Aug. 6 Team Slammers 11:30 a.m. (CT)
Aug. 11 KK Tresnjevka 2009 Noon (CT)
Aug. 13 Croatian All-Stars 1:30 p.m. (CT)
What we don’t know is who the Hawkeyes will be playing as far as rosters and the level of opponent. We also know that Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder is going to be experimenting with various lineups and groups playing together.
Also heading overseas is the Iowa men’s basketball team. Fran McCaffery’s squad will be headed to Paris for one game and then play in Spain in Barcelona and Valencia. The men’s team will be leaving August 5th with games beginning on the 7th.
Aug. 7 Paris All-Stars Noon (CT)
Aug. 11 Valencia All-Stars Noon (CT)
Aug. 13 Barcelona All-Stars Noon (CT)
What is unique about the men’s team is that McCaffery will turn over the coaching duties to his assistant coaches and have groups of seven players. There will be some overlap with most players seeing action in at least two games.
Games will not be televised or streamed on-line for either the Iowa men or women, but box scores will be provided.
