Intel and Eval: Auburn LB commit Jakaleb Faulk

MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA – Auburn Live stopped by Faulkner University to watch Auburn 4-star linebacker commit Jakaleb Faulk in action. We were able to see a full playoff game of Faulk last football season, so this was a check-in on his progress over the offseason. Here is everything we saw in the scrimmage, plus, some of the latest intel we have on him.

Latest on Faulk w/ some review

— Would it be unrealistic for Faulk, the younger brother of Auburn defensive lineman Keldric Faulk, to play for someone other than Auburn? Not at all. The bond between the brothers is strong, of course. Keldric was in attendance for his brother’s spring game as well. Still, the younger Faulk will make a decision that suits his future the best even if it means he does not play with his brother. This is all according to Faulk whenever we talk with him, too.

— What holds his commitment to Auburn is not solely his brother Keldric, but rather, how he has been treated by Auburn’s staff since they arrived. Still, Alabama, Florida State, and Florida continue to push and have his attention for the same reasons. Alabama feels like the biggest threat. Faulk has always been high on Alabama, even when we first interviewed him in 2022.

— According to our latest intel, Faulk remains strong in his commitment to Auburn. He will hear others out and take his visits, but Auburn feels good about hanging on. Again, Faulk is high on Auburn because of the family feel even if his brother weren’t in the picture. The two brothers are close, but the Tigers have individually recruited him well. Auburn’s staff has not let up on Faulk despite his commitment and recruits him as though he is not committed.

Spring game eval notes

— As Faulk continues to grow into his frame, he continues to have an elite build with room to grow. He is built to play on the edge, but shows mobility that translates to playing in space.

— It was good to see what looked like an uptick in physicality. With his size, his mentality hasn’t always been to stick his nose into traffic and play with a mean streak, but he seems to be gaining confidence in playing with more of an attacking style.

— Faulk ran a simple flat route from the in-line tight end position. When he is on the move and in more of a pressure situation like catching the ball, he moves with ease. Playing in space as an outside linebacker (not edge rusher) is certainly in the cards for Faulk on the next level.

— It was a spring game, and not a high-intensity situation at all times. Still, Faulk flashes more and more every time we see him. His best play was a stripped ball while making a tackle. He easily overpowered the ball-carrier and sent the ball flying in the air on the strip.
