— Let’s get the not-so-positive news out of the way first. Las Vegas four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows is no longer taking an official visit to South Carolina. Notre Dame has been the front runner and the competition is stiff, but USC was at least going to get a swing. That won’t happen now.
Four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng was scheduled to be in that the first weekend but will not make the trip. Per Chad Simmons of On3, the IMG Academy defender is going to visit Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Michigan this summer.
Another talented backer, Tavion Wallace, is no longer booked for an official to South Carolina. Arkansas, Florida, FSU, Georgia, and LSU are in his top five.
— There are a couple significant additions to the list as well.
Roswell (Georgia) EDGE Kobby Sakyi-Prah is now on the books to take a trip to Columbia the weekend of June 7.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder has some other trips lined up, too. He will be at Indiana on May 31, Georgia Tech on June 14, and Mississippi State June 21.
Four-star defensive back Jahmir Joseph was in Columbia this spring for a multi-day trip to South Carolina and how has a return booked.
Stanford, Notre Dame, and Penn State will get officials on May 31, June 7, and June 14, respectively. The Gamecocks have one lined up for the weekend of June 21.
