— Let’s first double back to a target that we have written about plenty in recent days.

Four-star wide receiver Keylen Adams is set to announce his college choice on July 13.

This will be more of a recap, rather than new information on Adams. To reiterate some recent reporting, we anticipate a Virginia Tech selection there.

I changed my On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) pick for the Virginia product to VT this week.

Adams took an unofficial visit to USC on June 2, following that with official visits to Alabama and then to Blacksburg.

The original plan for Adams, even when things look favorable for USC earlier this summer, was to take an official visit to Columbia this football season.

He still has the OV in his pocket, so we’ll be monitoring whether or not he chooses to ultimately take it.

— Four-star Liam Andrews, a two-way standout out of Boston, told GamecockCentral.com following his June official visit to Columbia that he was eyeing a decision in the month of July.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder has taken three total official visits. Aside from the one to check out Shane Beamer’s program, he’s also seen Penn State and Wisconsin.

The consensus in the industry is that this race is down to the Gamecocks and the Nittany Lions.

Our colleagues at BlueWhiteIllustrated.com – covering Penn State for On3 – have heard that it’s possible Andrews announces a choice this week.

Another consensus from multiple sources is that it’s unclear which direction this one may go. There has not, to date, been a firm indication of which school will be the pick.

Although he’s highly ranked as an interior offensive line prospect, the Gamecocks like Andrews as a defensive tackle, his preferred position. Penn State is also telling him he will be a d-lineman there.

USC believes that Andrews is a potential early impact guy in the SEC, and he would be a major addition to the 2024 class, should South Carolina be able to land him.

Stay tuned.

— Earlier this summer, defensive back Malcolm Ziglar took an official visit to Columbia.

In the aftermath of the visit, it was clear that USC had made a positive impression. Ziglar was all smiles, and it looked like the Gamecocks had made a big move for his services.

Two more official visits, however, loomed. Ziglar took an official visit to South Bend that seemed to put Notre Dame in the driver’s seat. That was followed by another to UNC, and it that one seemed to give the Tar Heels the momentum.

On3 is highest in the recruiting industry on Ziglar’s abilities, ranking him individually as the 39th-best prospect in the country.

We have been of the mind in recent days that UNC was the likely destination for this Fuquay-Varina (NC) product. The Tar Heels currently lead the On3 RPM for Ziglar, but no expert predictions have been logged so far to factor into that equation.

Heading into Ziglar’s decision date – July 17 – there’s reason to believe that South Carolina may be in this one more than anticipated during the stretch run. Over the next few days, we’ll be tracking this one more closely.
