Injury report for Florida Gators heading into final week of fall camp

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators coach Billy Napier provided an injury update on several players Monday, including starting running back Montrell Johnson Jr.

Johnson has been out since the first week of camp after a routine arthroscopic procedure to clean up his knee. He has been listed as week-to-week but is on the mend.

“Montrell is doing fantastic,” he said. “He’s been able to do a few things. We expect him to be able to participate in practice, whether that’s modified and at some point, full speed.

“We’ll give you an update (soon) … up until the game. But we have confidence that Montrell is doing great and feel good about his return.”

Napier also confirmed injuries to a pair of Florida Gators wide receivers and revealed a third player who’s sidelined at the position. Senior WR Ja’Quavion Fraziars was spotted at practice this week on crutches, while freshman Tank Hawkins had his right arm in a sling during the team photo on Sunday.

“Lower body injury for Baby J,” Napier said of Fraziars, who hurt his left knee. “Andy Jean has an upper body injury. That will probably take a little bit of time. Tank is day to day. We’ll see where he’s at, but nothing long term for Tank. I think Baby J and Andy are to be determined.”

Napier also gave an update on junior cornerback Devin Moore, who’s projected to start this season. He was in a non-contact jersey during the first week of camp due to an abscessed tonsil.

Moore had shed his black jersey earlier this week but was back in it on Friday and Saturday, missing both practices. Napier revealed that Moore’s absence was due to his abscessed tonsil.

“We’ll get him back here soon,” he said.
