In-state edge Zion Grady, No. 15 recruit in 2025, visiting Auburn for Big Cat

Zion Grady, who is ranked the No. 15 overall recruit in the 2025 class, plans to visit Auburn football for Big Cat Weekend.

Grady, a four-star edge from Charles Henderson in Troy, Ala., will be back on the Plains on Saturday for the Tigers’ big recruiting event, he confirmed to Auburn Live.

The visit will be Grady’s fourth this calendar year. He also visited on Jan. 28, April 5 and June 15. Those three visits are in addition to numerous other visits in 2022.

Grady has early offers from Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Penn State, among many others. Auburn currently leads in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 38%, followed by Alabama at 31%.

Grady is ranked the No. 2 edge in the country by the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks the No. 3 overall recruit in Alabama behind five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams and five-star defensive back Na’eem Offord.

Auburn recruiting Grady as edge rusher

Grady, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, is being recruited by Auburn to play the edge position. The Tigers’ edge coach/defensive coordinator Ron Roberts and area recruiter Zac Etheridge both are recruiting him to Auburn.

“Coach Roberts, I think he’s a good person,” Grady said after his visit in April. “He checks on me, and every time I come up here, he tries to get me to come back for more visits and stuff like that. He tries to get closer with me.”

Etheridge is familiar with the Troy area. He’s familiar with Charles Henderson High School. Etheridge was a standout defensive back there before signing with Auburn.

Having Etheridge as a recruiter, the familiarity, is big for Grady.

“It’s a big deal,” he said. “(Etheridge) brags about it every time he sees me. He says he’s the best athlete to come through our school.”

Etheridge is pushing hard for Grady to follow him to Auburn.

“He’s trying to get me to come home, to get me to come play at Auburn,” he said.

Grady is listening.

“It’s just different,” he said. “I feel comfortable (at Auburn).”

In addition to Auburn, Grady has taken multiple visits to Alabama this spring. He’s also visited Florida State. He announced on Saturday that he will release a top group of schools on Sunday.
