IMG Academy playmaker locks in visit itinerary with Florida Gators

The Gators are gearing up for another strong recruiting weekend in Gainesville, as over a handful of blue-chip prospects will be on campus over the next several days.

One of the expected attendees is Jerrae Hawkins, who tells Gators Online he is visiting Florida on Saturday. It will mark his first-ever meeting with Billy Napier’s staff after being offered last month.

A four-star wide receiver and native of West Virginia, Hawkins transferred to IMG Academy in December for football and track. He is the No. 28-ranked wide receiver and No. 158-ranked prospect overall in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The On300 prospect posted 67 catches for 1,173 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior and reports times of 10.44 and 21.4 in the 100M and 200M, respectively. He claims to have ran a 4.25 in the 40 as well, so this is a dynamic playmaker who can light up the scoreboard in a hurry.

“I just want to see how they operate, how they use their slot guys and guys that play like how I play,” Hawkins recently said of the Gators. “(Coach Napier) wants to see me come out there on a visit. He is looking forward to seeing me.”

Hawkins is focused on a half-dozen programs

On March 13, Hawkins dished out a top six of Florida, West Virginia, Louisville, Miami, Wisconsin and Penn State. He plans to take the majority of his official visits in the summer and then commit sometime before his senior season.

Penn State, which has already received three visits, is trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Those odds are currently sitting at 44.6 percent.

“Mainly where I feel comfortable at, feel at home and where I could be best used,” Hawkins previously told On3 about what matters most in his decision.
