Hurricanes offer top-25 On300 2025 EDGE Javion Hilson: ‘I think Miami can be a good school for me’
Miami has begun recruiting elite 2025 EDGE Javion Hilson, the No. 22 overall prospect in the initial 2025 On300 rankings, and offered the four-star prospect April 18.
Hilson, from Cocoa (Fla.) Eau Gallie, has also landed offers from programs including Florida State and Tennessee early in his recruitment. He is the No. 3 EDGE in the class and No. 6 Florida prospect behind recruits including Miami Central defensive lineman Armondo Blount and Fort Meyers native Carter Smith.
The Hurricanes have immediately landed on Hilson’s radar as they attempt to pull interest away from in-state programs like Florida State and UCF. He’s taken visits to Florida State, UCF, Tennessee and Pittsburgh so far this year.
“I was working out – after workouts I found out I received an offer from Miami,” Hilson said. “I was excited the hard work starting to pay off. I think Miami can be a good school for me. I like the defensive scheme they run. I feel like I can fit the best in the scheme they run.”
Hilson said he has interest in programs that have expressed interest in him, which includes Tennessee, Florida State, UCF, Rutgers, FAU, Indiana and Pittsburgh. He said Miami’s offer came as a total surprise to him and hadn’t communicated with the Hurricanes’ coaching staff leading up to his offer from co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor.
Hilson wants to commit to a program that demonstrates it clearly needs him and is willing to build a close relationship with the four-star EDGE.
His stock has continued to rise this spring as he landed offers from FSU, Tennessee, Rutgers, Indiana, Pittsburgh and UCF and now Miami in 2023.
CaneSport’s Take
It should come as no surprise that Miami offered an in-state top 25 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class to go along with players like Blount or Smith, who the Canes are in good shape with after the spring. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists UCF as the frontrunner with Pittsburgh close behind, although I expect that to change as he takes more visits.
Hilson is a 2025 prospect Miami needs to get to campus this summer for an unofficial visit, particularly after Florida State and Tennessee got him to campus within a few months of offering him. Expect the offers to continue pouring in as well, and don’t be surprised if he has an offers list more than a page long by the time the 2025 class falls into the spotlight.
