Hurricanes making strong impression on 4-star QB Bekkem Kritza: “There’s no better place than Miami”
Miami (Fla.) Central 2025 four-star quarterback Bekkem Kritza may be relatively new to South Florida after making the move from Southern California this spring, but the Miami Hurricanes have made a strong impression on the gunslinger early on.
“It’s awesome at Miami; I love the campus, and everyone is so welcoming,” Kritza told CaneSport. “It’s Miami, you know; there’s no better place than Miami. It’s awesome.”
Kritza, the No. 243 overall recruit and No. 17 quarterback in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, is enjoying his time at Miami Central so far and hopes to lead the school to its fifth consecutive state title.
“It’s going great, and we had a great practice putting in that work, and that’s why I came here,” Kritza said. “Coming out here has been a little adjustment speed-wise because they’re really fast, but overall it’s been really good. I’m gelling in pretty well, and I’m overall excited.”
Thus far, the 6-foot-5, 195-pounder has garnered interest and offers from a handful of Power Five programs, including Miami, Texas A&M, Penn State, Florida State, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Oregon, and USC.
“It’s been crazy, honestly,” Kritza said. “A bunch of schools have been blowing my aunt’s phone up since they can’t talk to me and have just had great things to say about me, which I love. I can’t wait until I start narrowing it down a little bit and get to work.”
Despite having nearly two years before he can officially sign with a program, Kritza knows what he’ll be prioritizing when the time does come.
“I’m looking for somewhere that has a good culture and somewhere I can go in and know I will be NFL-ready when I leave,” Kritza said. “I just want to go to a coach that has experience coaching NFL guys and things of that nature. Obviously, you want to go into the right system, but I think I can play in any system with how versatile I am and the things I bring to the table.”
With a good offensive scheme high on Kritza’s list of wants, after watching Miami’s spring game this year, the 2025 prospect is a big fan of Miami’s new offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson, and the scheme he has implemented in Coral Gables.
“It’s awesome because I love the air raid,” Kritza said. “I’ve been running the air raid my whole life, so I can’t wait to see what they do this year. That offense looked really explosive in the spring game. They chip away at you a little bit and then throw deep on you. I love what they do.”
In terms of his recent move to Florida, Kritza feels it will only benefit the Hurricanes throughout his recruitment campaign.
“It most definitely helps because they can come to watch me practice and stuff like that,” Kritza said. “They can come to tell me what they want me to work on and improve on just skillset-wise by the time I get there if I go there.”
CaneSport’s take
Kritza visited the Hurricanes twice before moving to South Florida, and each time he departed with a stronger impression of Miami. Miami may position itself as a serious contender for the talented 2025 prospect now that he is playing high school football in the Hurricanes’ backyard and at a school with whom they have a great relationship with.
