Hurricanes impress four-star IOL G’nivre Carr on Spring Game visit: “I can see myself at Miami”
Although Miami’s recruiting focus may be on the 2025 class, that has not stopped the Hurricanes from recruiting ahead, and that’s the case when it comes to Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 2026 offensive lineman G’nivre Carr.
The four-star offensive lineman made his way to Coral Gables for the first time this spring as he continues to strengthen his relationship with Miami’s staff and got a close-up look at the Hurricanes.
“I really wanted to come out and watch the spring game because I haven’t had the chance to watch them, and I knew it would be a very intense scrimmage, so I had to come out and watch,” Carr told CaneSport. “Every time I come here, it’s great. They treat me well and show great hospitality.”
Prior to transferring to IMG Academy, Carr, who is the No. 202 ranked prospect in the 2026 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, played at Trinity Catholic in Ocala, Fla., alongside current Miami offensive lineman Tommy Kinsler.
During Saturday’s spring game, Carr kept a close eye on his former teammate and was pleased to see Kinsler taking multiple reps throughout the scrimmage.
“It made me feel good,” Carr said. “Seeing one of my former teammates do their thing in college and ball out made a great impact on how I look at Miami.”
With over 20 offers on the table for the rising sophomore, Carr says Miami is one of the programs near the top of his list of schools. Alongside the Hurricanes, programs such as Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Louisville have offered the 6-foot-4, 325-pounder thus far.
“I would definitely say they’re a top 10 school,” Carr said. “Right now, I’m weighing out all my options and seeing where I will land my senior year.”
While Carr may be a while away from announcing his college decision, Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and head coach Mario Cristobal have made the rising offensive lineman feel at home in Coral Gables early on.
“I can see myself at Miami because of Mirabal and Cristobal,” Carr said. “Coach Mirabal and coach Cristobal are great, and coach Cristobal has experience playing o-line as well. Those two coaches right there are great.”
CaneSport’s take
Since transferring to IMG Academy, Carr has seen his recruiting stock steadily rise, and the Hurricanes have been in the mix since the very beginning. While Carr may still be an underclassman, Miami is not shying away from him and has made it known that he is wanted down in Coral Gables.
