How it Happened: Tennessee sweeps Hofstra with third run-rule of weekend

Tennessee baseball cruised to a run-rule victory over Hofstra to cap Sunday’s three-game sweep, winning 13-1 in seven innings from Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Vols (3-0) won every game in the sweep this weekend in run-rule fashion over the Price (0-3). Resse Chapman blasted a grand slam in the second. Hunter Ensley drove in two runs and a pair of Vols garnered multi-hit days. Tennessee managed 10 hits overall in the ballgame.

Nate Snead got the start for Tennessee and allowed one run off two hits in three innings of work. Andrew Behnke (1-0) earned the victory as the first out of the bullpen, tossing the one inning and allowing just one hit. Hofstra starting pitcher Branden Brown had a day to forgot. The righty allowed 10 runs (9 earned) off four hits across 70 pitches (28 strikes).

Tennessee returns to action for midweek work on Tuesday at 4:30 when UNC Asheville comes to town.
