Hot N Ready: Five-star QB returns to Michigan for on-campus 7v7 event

*** Five-star Belleville (Mich.) High quarterback Bryce Underwood was back in Ann Arbor on Wednesday to take part in Michigan’s on-campus 7v7 camp. His school won the showcase and took home a custom made traditional blue jersey. The No. 1 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to On3, received full observance from the U-M coaching staff, including quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell, for the second time during the month of June as Underwood was one of the marquee headliners at the Wayne State Satellite Camp three weeks ago. In total, Underwood has made four unofficial visits to Michigan since mid-March, more than any other Power 5 school in contention this offseason.

*** Three months ago, Underwood previously underwent a string of spring camp visits where he and his loved ones were able to acclimate themselves with Campbell, who increased communication over the phone much more than what was experienced prior to his promotion in January. There was a period of nearly five months, beginning in late-October, in which the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the country didn’t step foot on campus. However, talks over the phone with Campbell have occurred as much as twice a week and it’s led to a higher degree of interest for the in-state school from Underwood.

*** Here’s what Underwood recently told The Wolverine about Campbell satellite camp in midtown Detroit: “Coach Campbell is a great guy all-around. When it comes to football and everything outside of football, he has a high character and that’s great to see. He actually wants to have a relationship with my family as well. Not just myself. That’s a really big deal to me.”

*** Michigan’s hosting of Underwood transpired five days after the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder flew back down to Baton Rouge and threw for the LSU coaches. The unofficial visit marked the second time that Underwood has been to the state of Louisiana this spring. Underwood also toured the Ohio State facilities on the same weekend in which he competed in the Under Armour Next+ Camp Series in Obetz, Ohio in early May. The Buckeyes entered the mix in the middle of December. But Underwood’s eight occurrences in Ann Arbor going back to his freshman year have given the Wolverines a lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

*** Underwood is also one-of-three 2025 offered quarterbacks who’ve visited Michigan this month in order to throw in front of the coaching staff. On the June 14th camp, Campbell brought in the two top ranked signal callers from the state of Ohio – four-star Ryan Montgomery and four-star Tavien St. Clair. The former last made the drive up in early March to take in spring practice and plans to return in late-July for the annual BBQ at the Big House. Campbell would pull the trigger on offering St. Clair immediately following the camp.
