Highly-recruited 2026 guard Peyton Jones breaks down recruitment
Peyton Jones, a highly-recruited prospect in the Class of 2026, is building relationships and taking visits to several schools she’s interested in.
“The thing people notice about me first is that I’m a shooter,” Peyton Jones said. “I can create shots for myself and get open. That’s one of the things I do well – getting the shot off and having a quick release.”
Jones has visited Boston College, Harvard and Colorado State. She noted she’s also in contact with programs such as Oklahoma State, Kansas and Iowa State often and will potentially visit Oklahoma State and Iowa State.
“The No. 1 thing for me is relationships,” Peyton Jones told On3. “I’m a very family-oriented person, so I want whatever school I decide to feel like a family. The other thing is that they want to compete, they want to be there and they want to win basketball games.”
Peyton Jones broke down her experience with some of the programs in consideration.
Boston College
“They’ve been great to me, They showed so much interest and belief in me, and I’m so grateful for it because they were one of the first big schools to believe in me. When I visited them, the campus was beautiful. I loved the girls, meeting the players, seeing the facilities – it’s been great. All of them have been so great to me – building that relationship with all the coaches.”
Oklahoma State
“So my friend that I played with when she was a senior and I as a freshman [Macey Huard], she actually goes there. Hearing from her and speaking to them, they’re super cool people. One thing my friend has said about them is that they’re super honest and keep it real with you. I appreciate that because you don’t get that a lot. Talking to them, they seem fun and their work ethic seems amazing. They’re always in the gym and always available to players, it seems.”
Kansas
“Kansas has been super cool as well. My grandpa went there. It’s an amazing campus and an amazing school and they’ve been great. I’ve really connected with them and my personality matches them a lot. They have a very similar style of play to me too and I think I could see myself there.”
Iowa State
“They’ve been amazing. They definitely have a family culture and everybody is so respectful. Everybody seems close. They also keep it honest and tell you what’s happening in the process and who they’re recruiting. They’ve been super good to me. They’re super fun people and genuine people as well.”
Harvard
“Harvard has been amazing. They’re an Ivy, so I think that’s also one of the reasons I’m interested in them a lot. There’s an amazing culture there. All the coaches seem super close. On my visit, I noticed that all the freshmen were there getting to know the campus a little bit and they seemed super close already. The coaches seemed super close to them, too. They just seem like a family and they want to be there and have fun playing.”
Colorado State
“It’s been great with them. On my visit, it just felt like home and the coaches were amazing. They all seemed super close to each other and like they loved each other. I went to a football game with the players and at the tailgate, it seemed like a family. They put love on us recruits as well. It seemed like they wanted to be there and they want to win, which I love. Coach [Ryun] Williams has been amazing to me. They were one of the first schools that started recruiting me, which means a lot.”
