Henry Hasselbeck eager for first Michigan State visit following commitment

Henry Hasselbeck eager for first Michigan State visit following commitment

Michigan State will welcome back quarterback 2024 commit Henry Hasselbeck, of Boston (MA) Xaverian Brothers Academy, over the weekend of July 28. Hasselbeck will return to East Lansing for the first time since committing to the Spartans on June 30. He chose Michigan State over family connections at Boston College. Hasselbeck also officially visited Pittsburgh and UAB in June.

The son of former NFL veteran Matt Hasselbeck, Henry took two visits to Michigan State in June before committing. The family will be surrounded by a host of current and former Spartan players, and their families, for the Spartan Dawg Con event.

“It feels incredible,” Hasselbeck said of his decision to commit to the Spartans. “(We are) definitely a close group of guys.”

“I feel very proud of my decision to commit to Michigan State. After announcing, I would say I have only reinforced how much I love it here. Especially with getting to meet the other commits in my class.”

As for the upcoming trip to East Lansing, Hasselbeck is looking to see more of the campus and city itself, along with spending time with his current class and future teammates.

“I would hope to see more of just the town around campus to really see and learn more about East Lansing,” Hasselbeck said.

When other recruits or high school teammates ask the quarterback about his decision to commit to Michigan State, the answer is simple.

“I tell them to take a visit,” Hasselbeck said. “Going up to campus and seeing (everything) really opened my eyes.”

Entering his senior season, Hasselbeck will focus solely on football. The quarterback commit is also a standout lacrosse player and was once committed to Maryland to play the sport.

“Off the field, I want to be the best leader I can be,” Hasselbeck said. ”On the field, just control the controllable.”

Hasselbeck is ranked a three-star, the No. 1268 overall recruit, according to the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. He is also ranked the No. 74 quarterback in the nation and the No. 6 recruit in Massachusetts.
