Hawaiian Safety Aiden Mantai details weekend OV on Rocky Top

Waipahu (Hawaii) Kahuku High School standout safety Aiden Manutai took an official visit to Tennessee this weekend. Following the visit, the three-star prospect detailed his trip and thoughts on Rocky Top with Volquest.

The three-star prospect had high expectations coming into the visit, and the Vols impressed him.

“It has been most definitely something I came in not expecting,” Manutai said of the visit. “The facilities, the weight room, nutrition, everything is really setup for the players. That is something that stood out to me the past two days. That really made an impression on me.”

Another important aspect for Manutai during this weekend’s visit was learning more about how he could potentially fit into the Tennessee defense. He was able to do just that after spending time with Tim Banks and Willie Martinez.

“I had a very long meeting with Coach Banks and then another long meeting with Coach Nez,” Manutai said of the visit. “I was really kind of learning their background. Just talking ball and getting to know each other more than football. It was all good.”

“They see me playing as a star or as their nickel or as their boundary safety,” he added. “As long as I am getting where I need to be, so it was a pretty good meeting all around.”

Overall, the biggest takeaway for Manutai was just how impressive the culture is at Tennessee.

“Being around the guys, taking my OVs and figuring out the culture, it is pretty simple, the guys who are winning (like at Tennessee) there is some type of secret sauce and that is really family and bonding together (like I saw here).

Manutai does not want to tip his hand too much ahead of his July 12th decision date. But he admits, Tennessee made his decision more difficult.

“I am kind of just staying neutral for all of the schools, but they for sure made it even harder for my decision,” Manutai said of this.
