WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

There’s plenty more recruiting news, and with the 2024 class really coming together Miami is also making a lot of inroads in the following year’s class. We update several targets.

In the 2024 class we have a closer look at recent QB commit Luke Nickel, with his coach weighing in on what he brings to the table.

Miami (Fla.) Norland 2025 ATH Jade Card has stood out to several Florida schools early after a strong sophomore year and encouraging performances at prospect camps this summer. He talks about his Canes interest.

Davie (Fla.) Western High School 2025 receiver Koby Howard, a top-300 prospect in the On3 Recruiting Database and the No. 301 overall recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking, has already racked up more than two dozen offers including Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Notre Dame, and multiple top programs are treating him like an elite recruit heading into his junior year. Where does UM fit in?

Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward 2025 receiver Joshua Moore has risen to popularity over the last several months, landing offers from more than a dozen programs including Miami, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and Ohio State, among others. And several programs are standing out to the 6-foot-3, 170-pound prospect.

Homestead (Fla.) 2025 four-star receiver Cortez Mills, the No. 106 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 17 receiver, has been no stranger to Miami or its in-state rivals like Florida and Florida State over the last year, but big-name programs have turned up the heat on the speedy slot receiver this month. He updates his status.

There’s also a 2026 recruit update … On May 22, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy Ksani Jiles became Miami’s first commit of the 2026 class, and ever since the California native has continued to strengthen and develop his bond with the Hurricanes staff. Find out his thoughts.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Question: Is it a given that TVD turns pro … Posted by SolarCane

after this season??

I have no crystal ball, but I see TVD having a rebound season. Somewhere between last year’s nightmare and 2021. He’s not winning the Heisman.

Where would that land him in the draft? Williams and Maye are the top 2 QBs for sure. I see him, at best, as a day 2 pick.

So why is it a given that he’s gone after this year?

Think about it….

It would be the 2nd time in his career he’s had the same OC for 2 years straight (Lashlee)

We’d be returning our entire OL sans Lee

Returning most of the WR core plus Trader…

A majority of the defense could be returning. Possibly including KK and LT

With games like UF in the swamp, he’ll have an amazing platform to showcase what he can do.

He could get a good NIL paycheck to return.

2024 could be a fun year…but we talk about TVD and our QB room as if it’s a given that he’s gone. Idk.

Food for thought….

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“My interest with the Canes is high. I broke my leg there (at a Miami prospect camp last summer), so me and Mario Cristobal, we have a good relationship with each other. When I went there we were chopping it up, having a really good conversation, and I really like (receivers) coach (Kevin) Beard. I’d like to be coached by him one day.”
