WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Be sure to check out more of our recruiting updates heading into the big barbecue at Miami on Saturday. We watch up with Miami commit Chris Wheatley-Humphrey, fellow commit Abram Murray and 4-star TE Ryan Ghea for their thoughts.

In football team news? We continue our analysis items.

There’s a breakdown of the players under the most pressure as the season approaches, with an explanation for each. Then we continue our State of The U series with another position breakdown, this one looking at a key linebacker spot that has some depth question marks.

The game preview series also continues, this time with a closer look at an NC State team that could have some major improvement on offense.

CaneSport also is breaking down the top 30 Miami players on the roster, and today we’re at No. 4, OL Javion Cohen.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

My Expectations For The 2023 Season … Posted by Everything 305

I just keep thinking about all the great teams, players, coaches and even administrators we’ve been blessed with during the last 67 years. The national reputation we created by sheer domination on and off the field may not be endearing to outsiders but it definitely epitomizes what SFL and true football is all about and that’s PHYSICALITY across the board. The collection of talent in the trenches these past 2 years and their actual development is the most critical factor that must be aligned with the mentality and culture that Mario has been putting in place since his arrival. As the trenches go so will the wins and losses become evident for all to see this season regardless of all the skilled talent that is on our roster. The OL imo is still a major question mark based on the chemistry of the top 7 guys in the rotation and the amount of actual games/reps it takes for it to be established in terms of communication, familiarity and ultimately TRUST as a whole. The DL is still a concern based on depth and the quality of it at the DT position with so many newcomers and at DE a true dominant and consistent pass rusher must emerge that mandates opponents to double him on all passing situations and snaps. It’s based on these areas of concern that I envision at best a 7-5 season with this team playing its best ball at the end of the season and ultimately winning a mid tier bowl game. I hope I’m totally wrong here and Mario pulls a TCU 22’ season and an appearance in the National Championship game.

GO CANES!!!

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I committed last year at the barbecue because it just felt right. At this event they make you feel very welcomed and that you’re wanted at Miami. This get-together is huge when it comes to recruits because it will give them every reason to choose Miami.”
