WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
There were big official visitors on campus this weekend, and you can check out all the feedback coming off that.
We also have your Summer Q&A with CaneSport publisher Gary Ferman, as he takes on all your questions.
In other recruiting news?
After exploding on the recruiting scene following an impressive sophomore season, Power 5 offers began pouring in for 2025 Germantown (Tenn.) four-star ATH Jamarion Morrow. With his recruitment continuing to gain traction, the Miami Hurricanes became the latest program to offer Morrow after being evaluated by tight ends coach Cody Woodiel. He updates his status.
We also have an item on Newport Beach (Calif.) Newport Harbor 2026 quarterback Jaden O’Neal, who made a more than 2,000-mile trip to Coral Gables for Thursday’s prospect camp and had it pay off with an offer. Read his thoughts.
Plus Miami hosted its sixth camp of the year Thursday and its second formal prospect camp, drawing more than 100 recruits from different states, including a few notable talents the Hurricanes gave a look to. We have your update on that event.
Also check out an offer from the camp – after making a trip from the West Coast to South Florida, four-star Spanaway (Wa.) Bethel High School linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale earned that offer and shares his thoughts.
In basketball news? The Hurricanes have a new addition: Paul Djobet, a 6-foot-7, 193-pound guard originally from Lille, France. So read about what UM has picked up there plus get Djobet’s insight into why he chose Miami. We also have an update with his high school coach, who compares him to an NBA star.
Then we have plenty of football team analysis items, too.
For the Miami Hurricanes to quickly turn around a 5-7 season, a key will be the immediate success of new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. He brings a hybrid Air-Raid attack to Miami, and shares his thoughts on where things stand. So you don’t want to miss that.
More items:

Today we take a closer look at how all the new faces can fit in. There also were two Miami Hurricanes listed on the 2023 On3 All-Transfer Portal Team, so we take a closer look at that.
The top 50 post-spring players on the roster series continues also. It’s a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. We have your breakdowns on No. 6 Leonard Taylor, No. 4 Matt Lee and No. 4 Javion Cohen. Find out why they are ranked and how we see them performing this coming season.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

Ranking the top 50 players… Posted by KJMahan
Great list guys!! Can’t wait for the top 8, so I’m going to list my top ten:
1. Tyler VD – QB
2. Kam Kitchens – S
3. Javion Cohen – OG
4. Akheem M – DL
5. Matt Lee – C
6. Leonard T – DT
7. Xavier R – Slot
8. James Williams – S
9. Francisco M – MLB
10. Jalen Rivers – OG
The top 10 is relatively easy. Love to see QB at the top and 5 across the offensive & defensive lines. We should be able to pound the rock more than we’ve been able in years. 4th & 1 won’t be as heartbreaking with Cohen, Lee, and Rivers side-by-side.
Disappointing to see our two most talented ballers at 6 & 8. Maybe they take a big step this year.
CS, how does your list have Wesley, Colbie, & Elijah above Rivers when none have made a single big play in college football? Jalen has been solid for yrs. He’s not a tackle, I grant you, but is an all-ACC guard.
11. Jahfari H – DE
12. Zion Nelson – OT
13. Colby Young – WR
14. Francis M – OT
15. Wesley B – WLB
16. H Parrish / M Fletcher / Ajay A – RB
17. Elijah A – TE
18. Nyjalik K – DE
19. Ja’Dias Richard – CB
20. Devonte Brown – CB
21. Jacolby G / Tyler Harrell – WR
22. Branson Dean – DT
11-22 was tough. A lot of potential. Too much left to be desired. 11-22 is why the Vegas over/under is 7.5 wins. Unfortunately, 8 wins would be promising, given the horrendous 2019, 2020, & 2021 recruiting classes.
Jahfari is better than CS gives him credit for. He’s solid, if unspectacular. Just needs sacks, but so does every other college football DE. Jahfari is a high effort leader, albeit undersized.
I believe both OT’s are better than CS staff does. Zion has been legit since his 2nd college football game, just has to stay healthy. Francis will struggle in the A&M & FlaST games but will be 1st team freshmen all-American.
I cheated with RB & WR lumping Parrish, Fletcher, & Ajay together but 16 is right where they belong as they split reps all season. Parrish with the experience will start… Fletcher with the talent will eat reps into the season… and Ajay will have packages in pass-pro and out of the backfield.
Jacolby & Harrell will split time based on matchups and game plan. Both can ball. Kevin Beard has to get the best out of both.
IMHO… Coach Beard & Coach Addae will determine our swing between 6 and 9 wins.
CS, Wesley doesn’t know where he is half the time. How do you have him at 10? Plus he’s a drag down tackler. He doesn’t knock anyone back.
CS, you have a slow, blocking TE who’s hasnt caught a cold in seven yrs at 15? God I hope not.
Our biggest weakness (after adding Ajay to the RB room) is cornerback, with our top two corners transfers and nickel having never made a play. Both Stevenson & Ivey getting beat weekly and making NFL rosters shows how difficult DB is in today’s game. Thankfully, both transfer corners can play. Neither are lockdown, which is why we’ve taken 3 more transfers, but both can be as good as Ivey… Yikes. Davis, from St Thomas signed to compete with Couch and Freeney signed to compete with Brown.
23. Borregales – K
24. Corey Flagg – MLB
25. R Bain – DL
26. Harrison-Hunt – DT
27. T Couch / J Davis – Nickel
28. Anez Cooper – OG
29. Brashard Smith / Ray Ray – WR
30. Isaiah Horton – WR
31. Samson O – OT
32. F Ladson – WR
33. D Chaney – RB
34. McCormick – TE
35. Chantz Williams – DE
36. Daryl Porter Jr – CB
37. Keondra Smith – OLB
38. J Skinner / R Williams – TE
39. Chris Graves / D Freeney – CB
40. Markeith Williams – S
41. Ahman Moten / Jacob L – DT
More cheating here as I doubled up on nickel, wide receiver, tight end, corner, and d-tackle. No use splitting them bc injuries and effort will decide, not talent. 23-41 are all backups. Our depth is suspect! We can see why Vegas has us at 7.5. With few exceptions this is the worst depth Miami has ever had. Thankfully, next year the 2023 class will litter this section of the depth chart and roster talent will be moving towards where it needs to be to compete.
Several notes: Harrison-Hunte will have all the opportunity in the world. He’ll spell Dean on 3rd down and can pin his ears back. He’s flashed in the past. Hope Guidry gets the best out of him. Anez is the best backup OL we’ve had in recent memory. Kid is all-effort and can play every position except center. Pumped about our 2nd string WR’s. Should see very little drop-off. Chaney could be top 15 if he stayed healthy.
The writing is on the wall for Porter, Smith, Chantz and any sophomore or junior not on this list.
