WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well, if you missed The Lamar Thomas Show last night, it’s not too late to tune in. Be sure to check that out. And watch U Bet CaneSport with renowned local handicapper Lee Sterling breaking down the University of Miami-FSU game and other top college contests this weekend.

Plus we catch up with Cam Ward and other players for their thoughts heading into the game Saturday vs. the Seminoles, and have our closer look at the upcoming game.

In recruiting?

We have updates with several key visitors for this weekend’s game as well as our weekly Tracking The Commits feature with stats and highlights.

Winter Park (Fla.) four-star 2026 safety Ayden Pouncey is one of them. He has long-standing ties to Florida between his brothers, Ethan and Jordan, and his cousins, Mike and Maurkice, playing for the Gators over the last decade. But this weekend, the top-150 defensive back will have his eyes on Miami.

Another visitor is FSU four-star ATH commit Darryon Williams out of Tampa (Fla.) Plant. He has not shut the door yet on a select few programs, including the Miami Hurricanes.

Carrollton (Ga.) cornerback Shamar Arnoux will make the trip down and shares where things stand.

Also making the trip is Milton (Fla.) Pace four-star center Grant Wise. He has his share of ties to Miami between his father, Ty Wise, playing for head coach Mario Cristobal in the late 1990s during his time as a graduate assistant under then-head coach Butch Davis and later serving one of Cristobal’s assistants while he was FIU’s head coach.

We catch up with Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Tech 2026 four-star interior offensive lineman Canon Pickett, the younger brother of freshman EDGE Booker Pickett and younger cousin of Zephyrhills (Fla.) 2025 Five-Star Plus+ LSU cornerback commit DJ Pickett. Find out what Canon has to say ahead of his UM trip.

Another visitor: Leesburg (Fla.) Tavares four-star 2026 linebacker Izayia Williams. He may have committed to Florida State Sept. 4, but that doesn’t mean the No. 40 overall prospect in the On300 hasn’t kept an eye on the Hurricanes. Get his take.

Plus Homestead (Fla.) South Dade four-star defensive back Tedarius Hughes will get his second look at UM as the Canes host Florida State, which is the program the 2026 prospect is currently committed to. Where does Miami factor in ahead of the visit?

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Don’t sleep on FSU … Posted by Canedawg15

Last year with a back up QB we played an FSU team that may have been the best in country very close and I expect the same to happen this year. They have athletes and if they beat UM it could salvage their season. In other words they have nothing to play for other than beating us. I hope CMC can keep the guys focused and not thinking ahead like many on this board. Fingers crossed we can play a solid game.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

Neil Gershman-Zooba Images

“Every game is the biggest game for me. Florida State just happens to be next. We are trying to do everything in our power to go 1-0 this week. We are going against  some really, really talented guys, have to be on our P’s and Q’s and execute at a really high level.”
