WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
We break down the Miami Hurricanes’ defensive grades with an assist of Pro Football Focus, going inside the numbers to look at areas of strength … and areas that need to improve.
We also continue our deeper looks at each position with our midseason grading positions analysis stories – today it’s the offensive line’s turn.
In recruiting? It starts with the big news yesterday that Putnam Science Academy (Ct.) four-star center Ben Ahmed announced his pledge to the Canes. We had his feedback on why he chose UM and also his coach’s take on what Miami’s landed.
Then we had Stephen Wagner put together a list of seven players he thinks Miami can reasonably land in the 2025 class with about two months left before the Early Signing Period Dec. 4. So don’t miss that.
We also catch up with the coach of Newberry (Fla.) three-star defensive lineman and Miami commit Mykah Newton. Find out about his progress this year.
Another coach’s take is with Orlando (Fla.) Orlando Christian Prep head coach Guerschom Demosthenes. He discusses the play of three-star 2025 offensive line commit Demetrius Campbell.
There’s an update on Miami running backs coach Matt Merritt stopping by Forney (Tx.) this week to check up on four-star prospect Javian Osborne … who says he’s working on a Cane visit.
Plus we talk with the defensive coordinator of Miami four-star EDGE commit Herbert “Third” Scroggins, who has already recorded 12.5 sacks midway through his senior season.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY
Yes, I stayed up on Saturday night till the end.
– Second half just as good as the first time I saw it live.
– think Cam under center most of the time gives us the best chance of being unpredictable
-D was much better than most are saying. Several coverage busts which account for most of the points and yards. Clean that up and we’re good.
– OL for most of the night owned the line of scrimmage.
– If we are running the ball, which we were, D doesn’t have a chance with Cam. That’s why I say run more plays under center.
– We ran a whole lot more off tackle, and Fletcher is best at that. Very productive.
MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY
“What I would like to see is he’s always created a lot of pressure, but my challenge for him is multi-sack games, stacking those games together. How about a 20-plus sack season? He’s already here at the halfway point, and we’ve been a pretty successful team through the years and we’ve played deep into the playoffs, so I’m like, ‘Hey man, if you have (more than) 10 already halfway through the season, let’s aim for 20, right?’ When you have great players, you always set the expectations high, so I have a high standard that I hold him to, and I’m just trying to raise that bar with him to just try to push him and just give him something to aspire to accomplish.”
