Ob the eve of Purdue’s season-opener vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday night in Mackey Arena, Purdue coach Matt Painter met with the media to discuss the season to come, his frontcourt, redshirt decisions and more.

Some notes …

• To no one’s surprise, freshman Jack Benter will redshirt.
• Raleigh Burgess may, as well, but Painter said right after practice Sunday there’s been no decision made yet, adding that the performances of other players early in the season could factor into it. Painter was.
• Not surprisingly Purdue appears bound to use the same starting lineup it did for the second exhibition, with freshmen Daniel Jacobsen and Gicarri Harris each starting.
