On the Friday night’s meeting with Northern Kentucky in Mackey Arena, Purdue coach Matt Painter met with the media to discuss takeaways from Game 1, lineups, Daniel Jacobsen and Raleigh Burgess and more.

Some notes …

• Turnovers were an obvious issue in the opener and led to some transition defense breakdowns, but the opener also again revealed Purdue’s need to improve protecting the paint.
• Painter says he’d have liked Camden Heide to take the open threes he passed up against Corpus Christi.
• He reiterated that there’s not been enough “separation” in the frontcourt to make many concrete playing time decisions, including Burgess, who was considered for a redshirt.
