Georgia Tech knocks it out of the park with speedy WR Michael Turner

Georgia Tech knocks it out of the park with speedy WR Michael Turner

Michael Turner has been actively checking out different college campuses to kick off the month of June, which included his first trip to Georgia Tech for an official visit over the weekend.

Turner, the On3 Industry Rankings’ No. 68-rated wide receiver in the country out of New Orleans area powerhouse River Ridge (La.) John Curtis Christian School, spent Friday and Saturday in Atlanta getting a closer look at the Yellow Jackets’ football program while also getting critical one-on-one time with Georgia Tech WR coach Josh Crawford as well as special teams coordinator and lead recruiter Ricky Brumfield.

The 6-foot-1, 160-pounder with verified elite speed deemed the Yellow Jackets as contenders after soaking up the sights and sounds of campus for his official visit this weekend.

“I would rate this visit a 10,” Turner told On3. “It’s like the people and everything out here is really genuine. It’s genuine love and it’s a great place to be. Georgia Tech is definitely a top school.”

Turner, who worked out at LSU earlier this week, is still planning trips to see Florida and also Ole Miss unofficially before the end of the summer. The three-star pass-catcher received the red-carpet treatment from the coaches at Georgia Tech and the city of Atlanta resonated well with Louisiana’s No. 9-rated recruit in this 2024 cycle.

“It went great and I love it out here,” Turner continued. “Coach Brum and Coach Crawford, they have been showing a lot of love out here. It’s been amazing and being in Atlanta is really a vibe.”

“They’ve been driving us around in golf carts the majority of the time and the photoshoot was fun, so was being out with the receivers. We went bowling with Coach Crawford and made him lose. I kept losing, too, kept hitting gutter balls and I needed a little time to warm up a little.”

The one-on-one time with Crawford and Brumfield left a major mark on Turner.

“The energy that both of the coaches have,” he started. “Coach Brum just has that loud, excited, hyper energy that everybody likes. Coach Crawford is the same. He’s not going to stop until he gets what he wants.”

Right now, Brumfield and Crawford are eyeing a 1-2 punch in the wide receiving corps in the form of Turner and fellow Louisiana WR Koby Young, who was also in Atlanta for the official visit weekend.

“That would be crazy if that happened,” said Turner.

Georgia Tech is leading on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for Turner, the No. 402 player in the country per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
