Georgia Recruiting Notebook: Georgia High School Media Day

Georgia Recruiting Notebook: Georgia High School Media Day

It’s not December yet, but Georgia football was well-represented in Atlanta on Wednesday. There were multiple Georgia commits and multiple targets taking part in the first annual Georgia High School Football Media Day.

There were nearly 100 teams on hand talking with media from around the state.

Where there’s football talent, there is football recruiting news. There were a few storylines that were noteworthy from the day on the Georgia side of things.

They are as follows.

KJ Bolden has a team in his head, whether its Georiga remains to be seen

We are around a week away from Bolden’s commitment. He will announce his college decision on Aug. 5. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia out front at the moment.

The Bulldogs have a 46.5 percent chance of landing the No. 8 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. One thing was very apparent around Bolden as he talked to the media today.

Florida State is a real contender. Sources have always talked up Florida State and stated that Florida State was a contender in this recruitment even when they weren’t really being talked about out in the open.

Bolden grew up loving the Seminoles. He’s a fan of them now. That won’t have any bearing on where he ends up as a player. The vibe certainly has begun to shift toward Tallahassee. Bolden is still high on Georgia. Georgia is still a big factor here, but the Florida State buzz is real and it isn’t going anywhere leading into commitment day.

Ohio State is still a program to watch as well.

Bolden feels he is close to being decided. He mentioned that he has a team in his head but his mind has changed even from a few weeks ago. It will be an interesting week and change leading into Bolden’s announcement.

Georgia has stayed in it with five-star DL Eddrick Houston

Georgia saw a flurry of defensive line commits in June. Houston has since begun to see RPM surge the way of Ohio State.

The buzz is still there with the Buckeyes. Houston is done with visits. Georgia will be there on the table when Houston announces his commitment on Aug. 22.

The Bulldogs have made strong pitches and Houston is still very much considering Georiga ahead of his decision.

Justus Terry has a familiar Georgia foe as his number two

Terry is locked in with Georgia. It’s not time to sound any alarms. It doesn’t feel like that time will ever come. Terry loves Georgia, they were one of the first in the door of his recruitment.

Alabama has emerged as a strong number two for Terry. He will make his way to Tuscaloosa over the weekend. It will be something worth watching as Alabama begins to bring Terry into focus over the next year or so.

Terry is aware of a lot of cultural similarities between Georgia and Alabama. There is a nature fit at both schools.

Dylan Raiola won’t make it to Athens this time

Raiola was originally expected in Athens this weekend for Georgia’s cookout event. He won’t make that trip this time around.

The No. 2 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings will be out of town getting some work in with his quarterback coach. He will be plugged in on the happenings in Athens while multiple commits and targets make their way into town before locking in for their respective seasons.

On a non-recruiting note, Raiola has quickly jumped into the culture at Buford. The reviews from teammates have been nothing but positive and he also drew praise for picking up the Buford offense in a few weeks.

Georgia was the silver medalist for Sammy Brown

Clemson ultimately landed the pledge of five-star linebacker Brown. Georgia was in it. There was a time when they were neck and neck.

The official visit Brown took to Clemson sealed things for him. There won’t be any flipping Brown. He’s going to Clemson. He’s fully locked in on his senior season.

Brown did admit telling Glenn Schumann was the hardest thing he had to do during the recruiting process.

Georgia one of the contenders for 2025 4-star TE Ethan Barbour

Barbour dropped a top-eight on Monday. Georgia was among that group. He will visit over the weekend after visiting Alabama yesterday.

Georgia and tight end coach Todd Hartley have been in this recruitment since nearly day one. Barbour is still mulling his options. Georgia is a team that checks a lot of boxes for Barbour up to this point.

2025 On300 RB Justin Baker high on Georgia

Baker remains high on the in-state Bulldogs. He plans on returning this fall for a visit. Baker has Georgia in his top six released last month.

Baker expects to play a big role for Buford along with Georgia five-star quarterback commit Raiola.
