Georgia playing host to ELITE group of official visitors
It is Go Time for Georgia on the recruiting trail. With Memorial Day in the books, UGA will host official visits for the next four weekends before the NCAA-mandated dead period begins at the end of the month.
The Bulldogs will be getting things started with a bang starting this weekend and below, DawgsHQ has an early list of expected official visitors. This is not a COMPLETE or FINAL list but we ask that you do not publish or share it anywhere else.
Georgia targets…
*** EDGE Isaiah Gibson (Warner Robins; Warner Robins, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 27 overall, No. 1 EDGE, No. 7 in Georgia
Georgia is getting its second visit from Gibson in a three-week span. The Bulldogs are trying to flip him from USC after he pledged to the Trojans earlier this year. He holds the UGA staff in high regard and the feeling is mutual.
*** DL Justus Terry (Manchester; Manchester, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 8 overall, No. 2 defensive lineman, No. 2 in Georgia
Terry committed to USC earlier this year on his first visit to Southern California, flipping from UGA in the process. Since then Georgia has hosted him for a visit and the staff has visited him at his school. This is a big official visit for the Bulldogs and they are very much in the thick of his recruitment.
*** LB Zayden Walker (Schley County; Ellaville, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 24 overall, No. 1 linebacker, No. 5 in Georgia
This will be Walker’s second visit to Georgia in the past three weeks. He was on campus for the Scavenger Hunt and had some glowing things to say about the Bulldogs. Walker is a top target for Glenn Schumann and company. South Carolina and Miami are also in the mix.
*** WR Travis Smith (Westlake; Atlanta, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 112 overall, No. 12 wide receiver, No. 13 in Georgia
Smith was also on campus a couple of weekends ago for the Scavenger Hunt and has been a high priority for the Bulldogs for a long time now. James Coley has quickly built a bond with the four-star wideout since joining the Georgia staff.
*** WR Talyn Taylor (Geneva; Geneva, Ill.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 47 overall, No. 9 wide receiver, No. 3 in Illinois)
The four-star wideout has made numerous visits to Athens already but this is a big one. Georgia is the leader according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Notre Dame and Ohio State are also heavily in the mix.
*** OL Juan Gaston (Westlake; Atlanta, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 179 overall, No 12 interior offensive lineman, No. 26 in Georgia
The mammoth lineman has been to Georgia several times and that has the Bulldogs in seemingly great shape to land him. Several other schools are also working hard on him but UGA looks very much like the team to beat at this point.
*** OL Nick Brooks (Kennedy; Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 201 overall, No. 17 offensive tackle, No. 1 in Iowa
The 6-foot-7 340-pound behemoth is no stranger to the Peach State. He spent multiple years at Buford before moving back to Iowa to finish his high school career. Georgia is battling the home-state school, Iowa, and the Hawkeyes currently have the RPM lead.
*** OL Michael Carroll (Central Bucks East; Doylestown, Pa.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 185 overall, No. 13 interior offensive lineman, No. 4 in Pennsylvania
Georgia has gotten itself into the mix for the coveted lineman. Penn State, Michigan, and Alabama are also serious contenders. The Bulldogs have some ground to make up on this visit if they are going to land him.
*** DL Kevin Wynn (Greene County; Greensboro, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 154 overall, No. 14 defensive lineman, No. 22 in Georgia
We’re told that Georgia really likes Wynn and the Bulldogs have quietly recruited him quite hard. He plays his high school ball less than an hour from the UGA campus and the coaching staff has been in to visit him as much as they could over the past few months.
*** DB Lagonza Hayward (Toombs County; Lyons, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 111 overall, No. 12 safety, No. 12 in Georgia
The South Georgia standout has seen his recruitment take flight this spring. UGA has gotten itself firmly into the mix and this is a big official visit. Tennessee is also recruiting him hard and South Carolina has been in it for a long time.
Georgia commitments
*** QB Ryan Montgomery (Findlay; Findlay, Ohio)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 187 overall, No. 14 quarterback, No. 9 in Ohio
Montgomery joined UGA’s commitment list in April when Georgia made his offer committable. Since then he has been rock-solid to the Bulldogs and has earned an invite to the Elite 11 Finals.
*** RB Bo Walker (Cedar Grove; Ellenwood, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 382 overall, No. 39 running back, No. 40 in Georgia
Walker has been committed to Georgia for a long time, even through the transition at running backs coach from Dell McGee to Josh Crawford. The Bulldogs are heavily recruiting a few other running backs at well and it appears as if they’ll take at least two in this class.
*** TE Elyiss Williams (Camden County; Kingsland, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 23 overall, No. 1 tight end, No. 4 in Georgia
Williams has also been committed to Georgia for a long time and the Bulldogs have continued to recruit him hard. He’s the highest-ranked prospect in the class. There are a number of schools pushing to flip him, a group that includes Miami, USC, and others.
*** TE Ethan Barbour (Milton; Milton, Ga.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 186 overall, No 10 tight end, No. 27 in Georgia
Georgia landed Barbour last football season and he has been solid since. The athletic tight end has been in Athens numerous times and is an active recruiter for the Bulldogs.
*** EDGE Darren Ikinnagbon (Hillside; Hillside, N.J.)
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 92 overall, No. 14 EDGE, No. 2 in New Jersey
The four-star pass rusher committed to Georgia in April after taking multiple unofficial visits to Athens. Things have been quiet since his commitment but other programs, especially ones in the Big10, have not given up on him.
