Georgia official visit a ‘last pitch’ for in-state five-star Isaiah Gibson
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Isaiah Gibson has seen it all at Georgia. The Warner Robins five-star has been to Athens plenty, and the UGA staff has shown him everything. In his own words, this weekend’s official visit is an opportunity for him to spend time around potential future teammates and receive a ‘last pitch’ from the Bulldogs.
“I know the environment of Georgia. I know the feel of it. I know how they do things there. I’ve seen everything. This is the last pitch,” Gibson told DawgsHQ.
“Personally, I feel like nowhere in the country matches UGA. UGA is probably the number one school in the country in every single category. They check every box, no Xs, no red boxes, no nothing,” he added. “I would say this would be a ‘make or make it’ for UGA. Not make or break, it’s a double hitter.”
Gibson was in Athens for the scavenger hunt weekend and had an opportunity to interact with Georgia’s other recruits. Among those was tight end commit Ethan Barbour, who will be returning to the Classic City alongside Gibson for official visits this weekend. Also in town will be committed quarterback Ryan Montgomery, tight end Elyiss Williams, edge rusher Darren Ikinnagbon and running back Bo Walker – to name a few.
Barbour is the recruit Gibson said is on him hardest. As for players on Georgia’s roster, it’s Mykel Williams who like Gibson was once committed to USC.
“Just come there and be developed. Georgia has top notch development in every category,” Gibson said Williams’ pitch to him is. “The Mykel path. As you see, it’s just an ongoing occurrence of the path they’re putting players in. Travon (Walker) was the first and he really set it off. It’s been ongoing since.”
Rated a five-star prospect and the No. 1 EDGE prospect in the country per the On3 Industry Ranking, Gibson – currently committed to Lincoln Riley and the Trojans – remains a priority target for Chidera Uzo-Diribe, who he says is his primary recruiter, and the UGA staff.
“Go there, get developed to the highest level and go to the league,” Gibson said Georgia’s message to him is. “Georgia’s always original. They’re always the same. Nothing changes. I met Tray Scott in ninth grade, my first visit there and the relationship with Georgia has been built ever since that.”
