Georgia offer ‘an honor’ for top 100 WR Naeshaun Montgomery

Georgia offer ‘an honor’ for top 100 WR Naeshaun Montgomery

As the nation’s No. 73 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking for the Class of 2025, wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery has already collected an impressive list of offers.

Oregon, Texas A&M, LSU, and Miami are among those already in the race for the four-star pass catcher, and the Georgia Bulldogs recently entered in, as well.

“Coach [Bryan] McClendon has been in contact with my head coach,” Montgomery said. “They got me on the phone and he told me he would love for me to be a part of the program.”

McClendon added a personal touch while delivering the message, as well.

“He told me I was a younger him,” Montgomery said.

That comment stuck with the rising junior in a big way, as did the opportunity to potentially play in Athens.

“(To call it an) honor would be an understatement,” Montgomery said.

And while McClendon may be leading the charge from the staff side of things, there’s a Georgia commit who’s also offering up his support of bringing the 6-foot-3 wideout to the Classic City, as well.

“I’m good friends with Ellis Robinson,” Montgomery said. “We play on (7-on-7 team) Raw Miami together. All he does is tell me how amazing UGA is.”

Montgomery hasn’t had a chance to see the Bulldogs in person yet, but he’s looking to change that this fall.

“I’m definitely trying to go to a few games,” he said. “I am looking to see how I would be a great fit for the program.”

While there’s more for him to learn about the Dawgs in person, Montgomery is already quite well-versed in one aspect of their offerings

“When I think Georgia, I think National Championships,” Montgomery said.

That’s of great appeal.

“It’s something I definitely want to achieve,” Montgomery said.

Naeshaun Montgomery hails from West Palm Beach Florida’s Cardinal Newman High School.

Naeshaun Montgomery impressed On3 this summer

“Naeshaun Montgomery was Julian Sayin‘s preferred target on Sunday at the OT7 Finals. The West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman product caught four touchdown passes during knockout play. Montgomery showed the ability to make plays in a variety of ways. His first score came on a deep ball from Sayin, while showing the ability to separate vertically. Montgomery caught a game-winning touchdown on a slant route and showed strong route-running ability on two more touchdowns in the red zone. The 6-foot-3, 175-pounder also flashed natural ball skills. Montgomery also turned in a strong afternoon on Friday, catching two touchdowns once Sayin joined the team.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
