Georgia Football vs. Alabama: Live updates, scores, highlights
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — It’s a top-5 battle between No. 2 Georgia and No. 4 Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, and DawgsHQ is on hand to take in the action. Kirby Smart brings Bulldogs in with a 3-0 record while Kalen DeBoer is in his first-year as the Crimson Tide coach, also boasting an unbeaten mark so far. Only one will remain perfect on the season after tonight.
Georgia’s record against Alabama has been well documented. All-time, Alabama is one of few teams that can claim an advantage over Georgia. The Crimson Tide have won 43 of the total 73 matchups including eight of the last nine.
UGA’s lone victory in that stretch came during the 2021 season in the National Championship as revenge for a loss handed to them in the conference title game. As for this one, it’s a rematch of the 2023 SEC Championship Game that kept Georgia out of the College Football Playoffs. While much is different from last meeting to Saturday’s, the emotions of last year’s loss certainly linger as Carson Beck and company face Jalen Milroe again.
“Do you look at last year’s game? You always look at things like that from a personnel standpoint, matchup. You see guys in there, that game, our game, that overlap … I don’t think we chase the past at all. I think that you watch the tape, two different teams,” Kirby Smart said about facing Alabama after last year’s loss. “We’re focused on what we can do to be our best this week. The ghost we’re chasing is past performances this year, and what we can do to clean that up, and how we can be more efficient. I wouldn’t say it’s anything to do with them.”
Having won 42 straight regular season contests, the second-longest streak all time behind Oklahoma of the 1950s, ESPN Analytics gives UGA just a 34.5% chance of keeping that streak alive another week, although the Bulldogs do enter as slight favorites – the first time Alabama has been a home underdog since 2007.
