Georgia EDGE Isaiah Gibson will be back ‘shortly’ from undisclosed injury

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia entered the spring quite thin at the EDGE position and it’s even thinner now. According to Kirby Smart, freshman defensive end/outside linebacker Isaiah Gibson has missed some time this spring but he will be back “shortly.”He did not give specifics on the injury.
Gibson joined the team in December as a five-star prospect according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average of all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He finished the cycle as the nation’s No. 10 overall prospect and No. 1 edge according to those rankings. He was the No. 2 player in Georgia.
Being such a highly-rated prospect, the hope was that Gibson would help alleviate some of the depth issues at the position. Georgia lost four EDGE players at the end of the 2024 season. Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams elected to enter the NFL Draft, foregoing their final seasons in Athens.
The Bulldogs also lost Damon Wilson and Samuel M’Pemba to the transfer portal. Both landed in the SEC with Wilson now at Missouri and M’Pemba at Texas A&M.
