Georgia Amoore named Naismith Player of the Week and a Point Guard of the Year finalist

Georgia Amoore etched her name in UK Athletics history with her 43-point performance at 13th-ranked Oklahoma on Sunday, tying the school record for points in a single game. Amoore hit 15 of 23 shots, including seven 3-pointers, in Kentucky Women’s Basketball‘s 95-86 road win over the Sooners. The senior guard added eight assists to her high-scoring afternoon at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.

On Monday, Amoore was celebrated with the Naismith Trophy’s Player of the Week award for her game at Oklahoma and, the one before it, the win over No. 22 Alabama in Lexington. The Ballarat, Victoria, Australia native averaged 29.5 points, 4.5 3-pointers, and 8.5 assists in the two ranked wins last week, shooting 55.3% from the field and 50% from 3.

She becomes just the fifth player in Division I this season to score as many as 43 points, and the second in the SEC.

Her previous season high was 27 points, and her previous career high was 39 points.

Her 43 points tied Rhyne Howard (at Alabama (1/9/2020)) and Jennifer O’Neill (vs. Baylor (12/6/13)) for the most points in a single game in program history.

She had 20 points at halftime, the first UK player to have at least 20 points in the first half since Rhyne Howard had 24 against Auburn on Feb. 27, 2022.

She has scored 20+ points in 11 games this season, including five of nine league games.

She has scored 10+ points in 20 games this season.

She went 15-22 from the field, 7-12 from the arc and 6-8 from the line.

It marked her third game this season that she has made at least seven 3-pointers in a game.

She becomes the first player in program history to have three games with at least seven 3-pointers in the same season.

She has recorded at least eight assists in 14 games this season.

She recorded her 13th game of the season with at least 15 points and five assists.
