Georgia a dream school for 2025 4-star DB Martels Carter

Chatanooga (Tenn.) Brainerd 2025 four-star safety Martels Carter has 35 college offers. His offer from Georgia is the only one he remembers almost crying after receiving.
The No. 153 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 rankings added an offer from the Bulldogs back in April. His reaction stemmed from a lifetime of growing up a fan of the Bulldogs.
Carter is originally from the state of Georgia. When he was young, wearing the Georgia Power G was something he always wanted for himself.
“I almost cried,” Carter said with a laugh. “I probably shed one or two tears just realizing that I’ve grown up and looking at myself as a kid wanting to wear the Georgia helmet. It’s not saying that I made it but I’ve accomplished something that my younger self would be very proud of.”
Carter was a major fan of the Bulldogs. He remembers the days before Georgia was back-to-back national champions.
“Alabama used to run things, but that’s how you know I wasn’t a bandwagon fan, because I cried when Georgia lost to Alabama,” Carter said.
There’s football intrigue with Georgia for Carter. The Bulldogs defense has been a key part of their back-to-back national titles. Georgia is putting defensive players into the NFL.
Carter is intrigued by having an opportunity to develop in a deep secondary.
“They’re known as a defensive team and a family,” Carter said. “That’s big.”
Martels Carter high on Georgia’s culture
Carter has high praise for defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann and co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.
Carter also took note of the connection between the defensive coaching staff and the head coach Kirby Smart.
“The DC and the HC are really close,” Carter said. “They both dig into the defense as much as they dig into the offense. Some people just like to score. To know that’s a defensive team and that they care about their defensive guys, that’s a highlight of what Georgia brings to the table.”
Georgia’s culture is something Carter holds high on his board. Georgia’s players are close-knit.
“I look at that the most because growing up I’ve always been a leader that builds character and brotherhood,” Carter said. “Nolan Smith, the defensive end, said during an interview that when Kelee Ringo got the pick, it just made his day. Georgia’s players have a strong bond. It’s a brotherhood and I love to see it. Growing up that’s all my pops was trying to get out of his players. As they perfect it, it’s only going to get scarier.”
