Gators & Canes standing out early to Miami OL target
HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA — Ryan Miret is listed as a defensive lineman on his On3 profile, but he actually plays on both sides of the ball for Miami (Fla.) Southridge. And his offer from the Florida Gators, which came in June, was from the offensive line staff.
“I worked with both (Rob Sale and Jonathan Decoster),” Miret told Gators Online. “They offered me that day after camp. They want me to keep on working. That’s the biggest thing. Like, they told me, don’t stop working. They probably want me to get better with my feet — keep moving my feet. They’re great. Decoster and Sale are great. They’re very technical for sure.”
Ryan Miret has more than a dozen offers
Miret is thought to be among the top 2026 prospects in the Miami area. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 285 pounds. The Gators like him as an interior lineman (he plays center at Southridge). All told, Miret, who currently is unrated by On3, claims 13 offers, including ones from the Gators, Miami and UCF. Of note, the ‘Canes are recruiting Miret at center.
“(The Florida) athletic facility is really nice,” Miret said. “It’s for all the programs. And then they have their own private area for football. But everything is just top notch there. It’s definitely one of the nicest I’ve seen.”
There’s football blood in Miret’s veins. His dad played at the D-III level; an uncle played for UMass. Meanwhile, he has ties to the University of Florida, but not through football.
“I’ve had a ton of people go there in my family — especially from my mom’s side — to the engineering program,” Miret said. “I’m interested in engineering and I know they have a great program for that.”
According to Miret, he’s also interested in Florida’s football program. Very interested.
“I’d say the schools that stand out right now are Miami and UF,” Miret said. “And then App State as well. My interest is definitely high (in the Gators). One-hundred percent. I went up there for a game last season. II would like to go back. I’d definitely like to stop by for a game.”
***GATORS ONLINE TAKE***
It definitely feels like Florida and Miami would be two to watch early. He communicates often with the ‘Canes so they will be another team to track.
