Gators assistant checking on TE target and 4-star linebacker on Thursday
With the spring evaluation period still in effect, Florida tight ends coach Russ Callaway is set to make multiple stops in the Sunshine State on Thursday.
Gators Online has learned that one of Callaway’s stops will be at Cardinal Gibbons High in Fort Lauderdale. That is home to 2024 tight end target, Colton Heinrich, who visited roughly a month ago after receiving an offer in mid-February.
Tabbed as the 33rd-ranked tight end in the On3 Industry Ranking, Heinrich’s stock is red hot after collecting nearly 20 offers since the end of last season. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, LSU, Tennessee, Texas, Auburn and Miami are some schools that have offered the South Florida native as well.
“I feel like Florida is definitely a school I’m considering. I feel like they will definitely make it deep into my list of schools. It’s going to come down to where I feel like I will fit the best,” Heinrich told GO after last month’s visit.
“I’ve grown up around Florida fans. I know what the fan base is like and how rowdy they can get. The Swamp is always one of the best places to play and always one of the best atmospheres. I know what Florida football is like. I’ve been around it.”
All in all, Heinrich’s recruitment is unpredictable as it gets. He has went through roughly two-dozen visits since last year but rarely participates in interviews. This is a fairly wide open race though and the Gators are a program Heinrich is considering.
The Gators are leading the way for On300 defender
Another stop for Callaway today is for 2024 On300 linebacker Tarvos Alford. He hails from Port St. Lucie (Fla.) John Carroll and is coveted by Billy Napier’s staff, especially Austin Armstrong and Jay Bateman.
The Gators have already hosted Alford over a handful of times. That is by far the most of any program, and it started last summer when the blue-chip defender camped and then earned a scholarship offer. It’s definitely worth noting that Florida was his childhood favorite program as well.
To take it a step further, I submitted an On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick at the end of March. Then three days later, Alford returned to campus for another visit and labeled UF his leader shortly thereafter. Those leading odds in the RPM are currently at 92.6 percent.
Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, Penn State, Miami and Kentucky are some some offers on the table as well; however, much of the attention is centered on the Gators.
According to the 2024 On300 rankings, Alford is the No. 13 linebacker and No. 136 prospect overall.
