Frankie Muniz’s son goes wild watching his dad race on TV during Berlin 200

Every time Frankie Muniz steps out onto the grid and gets in his No. 30 Rette Jones Racing Ford Mustang, he’s doing it for something bigger than himself. Back home, Muniz has a family. His wife Paige and son Mauz make it to the track when they can, but sometimes they have to wait back in Arizona. The 2-year-old Mauz was cheering hard from the living room this weekend for his NASCAR dad.
The ARCA Menards Series took a trip to Michigan and hit up Berlin Raceway. With almost constant turning and 200 laps to go around the track, it was a challenging race for most of the field. Frankie Muniz started P8 and would move up to P6 by the end of the race around the 7/16th-mile track.
Muniz and his team are still searching for those top-5 finishes. However, it doesn’t feel too bad when your son is at home and cheering for you as hard as Mauz was cheering for his dad. This has to be the best Father’s Day gift for the actor-turned-racer.
“It’s honestly so cool to see my little man repping a “Built Ford Tough” t-shirt, cheering me on from TV because he couldn’t make it out here to watch me in person. I love this little guy…. Also, when he realized that was me [laughing emoji].”
Muniz put up a good effort, but he just wasn’t able to keep his Mustang on the lead lap as William Sawalich and Jesse Love shot out to the front and stayed there. Sawalich would eventually win the race after a pass with two laps to go on Love who dominated most of the event.
Frankie Muniz might need to get more aggressive
One thing that has been amazing to watch with Frankie Muniz is his car control. That is something that is hard if not impossible to teach in racing. It is something you have or you don’t. Muniz has avoided wrecks this season, but he might need to up the aggression if he wants to challenge Love for the ARCA championship.
There is nothing wrong with racing respectfully and minding others on the track. In fact, that is likely why Muniz is second in the points standing right now. With finishes of P11, P6, P9, P8, P6, and P6 – something has to change. Time and again, his No. 30 Rette Jones Racing Ford Mustang gets to the cusp of the top-5 and just can’t break through.
With Sawalich and Love picking up multiple wins this season, something will have to change to shake up that dominance. It would be nice to see Frankie Muniz take a chance and get aggressive on the race track.
Based on how he has driven this season, I’m sure that Muniz will have more opportunities moving forward in racing. It would be nice for him to dive into a corner and get rough with some of these other cars. That could be what he needs to do to have his big moment.
