FOX, IndyCar announce historic media rights deal, television schedule, including Indianapolis 500

IndyCar and Fox Sports have announced a new and historic media rights deal. Along with that, the television schedule, including the Indianapolis 500, was also announced.

Every 2025 IndyCar race will be airing on FOX and will also be available on the FOX Sports app. FOX Deportes is going to carry exclusive Spanish-language television coverage. In total, that will include 19 broadcasts, which represents a new record number of broadcasts for the NTT IndyCar Series.

Fox is going to also carry the Indy 500 qualifying rounds on both Saturday and Sunday. Other races will have their practice and qualifying rounds air on FS1 and FS2. Jeff Gluck put that into context, pointing out that NASCAR is only going to have five of 14 races on Fox compared to the 19 IndyCar races and Indy 500 qualifiers.

IndyCar CEO Mark Miles explained how the amount of exposure this deal offers to the sport makes it a historic agreement.

“This represents unrivaled exposure and provides an unparalleled growth opportunity for the most competitive and entertaining motorsport on the planet,” Mark Miles said. “FOX Sports is a fully committed partner, ready to bring engaging and technically innovative coverage to millions of fans across the country while also promoting INDYCAR thoroughly across all its platforms.”

Fox Sports CEO and Executive President Eric Shanks explained why getting the NTT IndyCar Series was so important to Fox, starting with how the Indy 500 fits into their lineup.

“Adding the iconic Indianapolis 500 and delivering the entire NTT IndyCar Series to the FOX Sports roster fits perfectly within our model of teaming with sports’ largest events and best-in-class brands,” Eric Shanks saids. “We’re honored to be the new broadcast home to “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” an incredibly special event to everyone at FOX Sports.”

All practice and qualifying sessions for races are going to be on FS1 and FS2 for IndyCar. On top of that, most Indy NXT by Firestone are also going to air on FS1 and FS2.

More details are going to be coming out in the near future. Among those announcements, things like on-air talent are going to be announced at a later date.
