Four-star WR Jeff Exinor back to Penn State, talks Nittany Lions official visit

Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh School wide receiver Jeff Exinor has been a regular at Penn State since his freshman year. Over the weekend, he got to see Happy Valley a little differently as an official visitor. The Nittany Lions hosted him beginning on Friday and he departed on Sunday morning. 

“It was great,” he said. “I mean, I’ve been up there a bunch but it still was better than expected. Just great vibes everywhere. I really got to dive deep into just how it is to live and be up there on a daily basis as well as get a sneak peak into how they envision me in their offense.”

The 6-foot-1.5, 215-pounder had questions about his usage in Penn State’s system, and he was pleased with the answers from James Franklin, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and wide receivers coach Marques Hagans. 

“[They said] I wouldn’t be confined to j one position as an h-back or an x receiver,” he said. “Just like the best in the NFL, I would move around to put myself and others in a better position to be productive with my talents. I love that plan, it allows me to demonstrate all of my skills as opposed to just limiting me to a generic system.”

Former McDonogh teammate played host at Penn State

Exinor was hosted by former McDonogh pass rusher Mason Robinson. Besides catching up, Robinson filled him in on what it’s like to be an athlete at Penn State. He was impressed with the Nittany Lions’ approach all weekend long.  

“I loved just how honest everybody was with me,” he said. “There was absolutely zero sugar coating and everything was just so genuine. My host was Mason Robinson and we are boys. We went to the same high school so it was great to catch up. He just talked about how normal student life is there. Like normally it is packed, but they were in between sessions, so it was a little bare. Although it’s a big school everything is close and convenient.”

A decision will come soon for Exinor, who has an official visit left on the calendar to Maryland. He is planning to be in College Park on the weekend of June 21 and make his choice shortly thereafter. He took an official visit to Virginia Tech in April as well. 

A four-star prospect by the On3 Industry rankings, Exinor is the No. 52 wide receiver nationally and the No. 9 prospect in Maryland in the Class of 2025.
