Four-star WR Connor Salmin reviews first Notre Dame visit

Purcellville (Va.) Woodgrove wide receiver Connor Salmin is one of the hottest prospects in the 2026 class, adding offers from LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, Florida State, Texas A&M, Georgia, Indiana, Tennessee, Syracuse and others in recent weeks.
And as his recruiting stock has soared, Salmin made the rounds on the visit trail in June, which included a stop at Notre Dame June 10-11, and he enoyed his time in South Bend.
“Overall, it was a great visit,” the four-star wide receiver told Blue & Gold. “I got to tour campus and the football facilities, meet with a lot of the coaching staff and watch Coach [Mike] Brown coaching at the camp.
“It was my first time seeing campus; it’s really impressive. The facilities are also awesome, and it’s exciting that they are building a new football facility.”
Notre Dame offered Salmin a scholarship May 22, making its pursuit of him new, especially at the time he visited campus. So when he visited, it was a more of an introduction between him and the staff. And it’s safe to say that he left campus impressed with some of the important figures among the coaches.
“I got to meet with Coach [Marcus] Freeman — it was the first time I’d met him so it was great to sit down with him and get to know him, his background and have him explain what’s important to him as head coach,” noted Salmin. “He really cares about his players beyond football, which is awesome.
“I also sat down with Coach Brown a few times to get to know his coaching style and learn more about him and how he develops his receivers. I already knew I like Coach Brown from meeting him before, but it was great to get to know him better. I also got to meet Coach [Mike] Denbrock.”
It was a good visit from top to bottom for Salmin, who will closely consider the Irish moving forward.
“There were a lot of things from meeting to coaches to walking out on the field, to seeing campus,” he said. “It was a great visit.”
A big part of Salmin’s recruitment picking up is due to him running a 10.5 in the 100-meter race in the spring.
“I think track has been a really big part of my recruitment,” Salmin previously told Blue & Gold. “People will watch film and think a player looks fast and then see track times, it confirms the speed. It shows that I have really good top-end speed, which is important in football. Schools are looking for that, and you can’t teach it. It’s something I’m blessed with.”
According to On3, Salmin ranks as the No. 139 overall player and No. 21 wide receiver in America.
