Four-Star Texas Running Back Locked In with the USC
USC running backs coach Anthony Jones Jr. is two-for-two on the recruiting trail as the Trojans landed a commitments this Spring from top RB targets Daune Morris and Riley Wormley.
Both verbal pledges came following unofficial visits.
The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Wormley was the first running back to receive an offer from Jones following his move from TCU to USC. Morris was offered during the same timeframe.
Wormley is another Texas-based running back to commit to USC. The Southlake Carroll standout rushed for 901 yards and 19 touchdowns on just 85 carries during his 2023 junior season. He also caught nine passes for 123 yards.
He’s ranked as the No. 396 overall prospect and No. 32 running back in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. And Wormley holds an impressive offer sheet, including ones from Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas.
Shutting things down after USC official visit
Last weekend Wormley took his USC official visit with 18 other prospects, including fellow commits Julian Lewis and Romero Ison. One of the results of that visit was the decision to shut down his recruitment.
“I experienced a culture that felt like family,” said Wormley. “USC is rising program and will continue to rise throughout these next few years. I’m not going to take any other visits, but I should be back for a (USC) game during the season.”
He’s scheduled to join a running back room in 2025 that will feature plenty of Texas talent. USC’s Quinten Joyner and A’Marion Peterson both signed in the 2023 class and the Trojans landed Bryan Jackson out of Texas in the 2024 class.
2025 Commits (13)
USC currently has 13 verbal commits from the class of 2025. Justus Terry, Isaiah Gibson, Julian “JuJu” Lewis, Drake Stubbs, Matai Tagoa’i, Romero Ison, Harry Dalton, Trestin Castro, Gus Cordova, Willi Wascher, Hayden Lowe, Daune Morris and Wormley. That list will grow in the coming weeks barring any surprises.
