Four-star safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell locks in Ohio State official visit

Four-star safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell locks in Ohio State official visit

COLUMBUS — Ohio State continues to roll out the scarlet carpet for June with an ever-growing guest list that certainly rivals some of the other top programs in the country.

The Buckeyes added another name for June in four-star Bradenton (Fla) IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell locked in his official visit. The No. 13 safety and No. 145 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking will visit June 16-18.

Johnson-Rubell visited earlier this year on March 25 as part of a massive recruiting weekend for the Buckeyes. Ohio State earned three commitments from the guest list that weekend: Deontae and Devontae Armstrong, and Payton Pierce.

Ohio State is one of four programs Johnson-Rubell will officially visit this summer. He will also visit USC (June 2), Michigan (June 9) and Texas (June 23).

The Longhorns hold a commanding lead for Johnson-Rubell’s pledge according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 90.8-percent chance. Three predictions are in the system for Texas to bring home the Forth Worth native.

The Buckeyes don’t have any defensive backs committed in their 2024 class. They do, however, have two linebackers committed in Garrett Stover and Payton Pierce.

Ohio State holds the No. 2 overall class and the No. 1 class in the Big Ten according to the On3 Industry Team Rankings.

Ohio State Safety Board

The Buckeyes’ safety board is compact and loaded with plenty of elite talent and a few Ohio State leans.

Five-star Buford (Ga) KJ Bolden is at the top of the board for safeties coach Perry Eliano. That is a three-headed battle right now with Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson.

Lettermen Row sources indicate that the Buckeyes feel confident they can wedge themselves in the recruitment of four-star Bellflower (Calif) St. John Bosco safety and Georgia commit Peyton Woodyard. Woodyard committed to the Bulldogs in January, but he has set official visits to Ohio State and Alabama.

Other safeties to know heading into official visit season include Vaboue Toure, Reggie Powers and even Jaylen McClain.
