Four-star RB Jason Brown finalizing return to Michigan State; other contenders

There was a time in August where it seemed the recruitment of four-star running back Jason Brown, of Seattle (Wash.) O’Dea High School, was coming to an end. Brown announced a top three of Washington, Oregon, and Michigan State on August 17. The four-star will begin his senior season with O’Dea on September 1, a date he originally planned to have his recruitment finalized by.

“I have always been someone that goes off feel,” Brown previously told On3. “I have just gone through the recruiting process and never had a clear date or time that I wanted to commit. It looks like my decision will come before the season now though. I am getting a little closer and I am starting to get better thought about it.”

Michigan State will be hosting Brown for the Spartan home game against Washington on September 16. He will visit Washington this Saturday (September 2), along with Oregon on September 23. A decision is likely on the horizon after the busy month of September. It is unclear whether the Washington and Oregon visits will be official or unofficial. Brown used his only official visit of the recruiting process so far to Michigan State on June 23.

“My top three schools are Michigan State, Oregon and Washington. It will be one of those three schools. I am still thinking about it and weighing the pros and cons. I like all three schools and I am working to figure out which is not only the best football, but successful life after football too.”

Brown currently ranks a four-star, the No.155 overall recruit. He is also ranked the No. 10 running back and the No. 2 recruit in Washington by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. Michigan State currently holds an 85.2% chance to land Brown’s commitment according to the RPM. The Spartans passed up Oregon, who now sits second with a 5.1% chance for Brown.

Michigan State will look to strengthen their strong positioning with a strong performance on the field, along with another strong visit to East Lansing. It will be the third trip to Michigan State for Brown.
