Four-star quarterback Trever Jackson hearing from Ole Miss, planning visit

Jones (Fla.) quarterback Trever Jackson has seen an uptick in his recruitment over the last couple weeks. Ole Miss extended an offer then Oklahoma and Brent Venables followed Lane Kiffin. He spoke with Ryan Wright from Recruiting News Guru about who is talking to him the most.
“The teams reaching out the most right now are Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Pitt, UCLA, Texas A&M, and Maryland,” Jackson said. “For the end of July, I am trying to set up a visit between Maryland, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma; I have to set those up.”
The No. 34 quarterback in the On3 Industry Ranking and No. 17 quarterback in the 2024 On300 has already taken unofficial visits to UCLA, Houston, and UCF. He’s also been to Pitt and Texas A&M for official visits.
Kiffin and Co. are most likely aiming to bring Jackson in next weekend for Juice Fest 23. The Rebels will be hosting a bevy of prospects in the 2024 and 2025 classes. I’d imagine if Jackson makes it to campus for the big-time event and he’s surrounded by other Ole Miss commits, it will go a long way.
“I’d say pretty much every school is still a contender for me,” Jackson said. “All the schools I am still in contact with, they are top contenders.”
The offer from Oklahoma seems to be the biggest obstacle for Ole Miss right now. He went into detail about the Sooners and why he likes the idea of playing for offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby.
“Our relationship is pretty good,” Jackson said. “My former receiver (2022) Jayden Gibson is at Oklahoma; he talks great about them all the time. He pushes them well in my recruiting. Coach (Brent) Venables, he really stresses you have to focus on something outside of football; other than football what will you have, what kind of man will you be after football?
“Coach (Jeff) Lebby, you can tell he is a great guy,” Jackson said. “His offensive mind is amazing, and how he has used QBs with the same traits that I have, I could win a Heisman or a championship there.”

Trever Jackson is an intriguing prospect.
“When it comes to pure velocity, Trever Jackson was the clear standout of the group. The uncommitted prospect has a big-time arm. Jackson absolutely ripped some throws over the course of the event. When he really uncorked throws, it looked like smoke was coming off the football.
“The data backed up the eye test, as Jackson registered the highest score on the Elite 11’s BreakAway Ball Score test – by a fair margin. A one-year varsity starter who is young for the class, Jackson has intriguing upside and ability but will need to continue developing as a player.
As a junior and first-year starter at West Orange High School, the 6-foot-3, 190 pound Jackson threw for 1,559 yards and 16 touchdowns. He didn’t run quite as much as Hejny but still managed 306 yards and six touchdowns.
Jackson told Wright he still intends on making a decision sooner rather than later.
“I want to do it before the season,” Jackson said. “If I do it before the season, it will be the second or first week of August; the first through the 17 or 18. But I don’t know yet. My birthday is August 25, I might hold out until my birthday.”
