Four-Star QB Michael Van Buren Set to Announce

One of the Ducks top 2024 recruiting targets is set to come off the board this weekend. St. Frances Academy (Md.) quarterback Michael Van Buren announced Sunday he will make his commitment later this week.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder will commit this Saturday at 1 PM PST. He is expected to have live stream options for the commitment.

Van Buren is the nation’s No. 181 ranked player and No. 12 quarterback per the On3 Industry Rankings. Even though the Ducks already hold a commitment from Sunnyslope (Ariz.) quarterback Luke Moga. However the Ducks have pushed to sign two quarterbacks in this recruiting cycle.

Oregon leads the On3 RPM with nearly 95% chance at landing Van Buren. I’ve had my prediction on Oregon since April 24 with 80-percent confidence.

Here is what Van Buren told On3’s Chad Simmons about the Ducks.

Oregon: “What stands out about Oregon for me is my relationship with the coaching staff and the great people they have in the building. Everyone there always has high energy, shows a lot of love and really care about each other in the building. With Coach (Dan) Lanning, a big thing with him is family and that’s why he chose to go to Oregon. I also built a relationship with Coach (Will) Stein when he got there and my mother finally got the chance to go up there and meet him in person. She really enjoyed that. Oregon also preaches that they’re one step from winning a national championship. They’ve been there and they feel like they can back and win it with me leading them there.”
