Four-Star Edge Zion Grady looking forward to return trip to Florida State

Four-Star Edge Zion Grady looking forward to return trip to Florida State

Four-star edge rusher Zion Grady has had a busy summer already with visits to Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Florida State.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Grady is the 15th-best player in the nation for the 2025 class. In addition, he is the second-best player at defensive end and the third-best prospect in Alabama.

“Each of those schools were great,” Grady said of his summer visits. “I think the thing that stood out most were the relationships with the coaches and learning how these schools would like to use my skills.”

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound recruit out of Troy, Ala., is currently working on narrowing his recruitment down to a list of his top schools. In the meantime, he is also looking to schedule some more visits.

“I have Tennessee so far. I’m working on Louisville, Clemson, and Michigan,” Grady said. “I’ll be back to visit FSU during the season.”

With the Seminoles having recent success on the recruiting trail, that has caused Grady to pay even more attention to Florida State.

And the assistant coach who has made perhaps the biggest impression was Florida State defensive ends coach and special teams coordinator John Papuchis.

“Coach JP talked to me about the D-Line and how I would fit into what they do,” Grady said. “I think the level of interest FSU has been showing me is what stands out the most. And seeing how he has been recruiting this summer.”

As he prepares to drop his Top 10, Grady also is trying to get focused for the upcoming football season.

“Summer’s been pretty busy with visits, basketball and preparing for the season,” the four-star prospect said. “This summer, I have been working on getting bigger, pass rush and coverage skills. … I think I’m looking forward to sacking QBs and winning state this year. We lost some key players from last year’s team, but we are stronger in some positions. Once we get everyone up to speed, we will be dominant.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Auburn is the leader for Grady with a 38.3 percent chance of landing him. Alabama is next at 33.5 percent, and Florida State is third at 11.8 percent.
