Four-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin puts Ole Miss in Top 5
Lake Cormorant (Miss.) defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin has narrowed things down one last time ahead of his commitment coming later this year. On Friday, the Mississippi prospect named Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss and Tennessee as his finalists.
Franklin is the No. 36 overall prospect and No. 7 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average which utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 1 player in Mississippi.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Volunteers lead the way for Franklin’s commitment at 76.8%. On3’s Sam Spiegelman put in a prediction last month. Despite the numbers favoring Tennessee, sources remain confident the Rebels will win out in the end for top-ranked player in the Magnolia State.
Randall Joyner and Pete Golding are “all in” for Kamarion Franklin.
Miami and Tennessee continue to plug away here and Alabama is starting to poke around as well. But, Joyner and Golding are heavily involved in this recruitment and, sources say, Ole Miss still has a slight lead despite all the outside noise.
“My relationship with coach Joyner, he keep(s) it real every time,” Franklin told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Every time we talk, he lets me know (what’s) real. I feel like he(‘s) a good coach, I feel like he knows what he’s talking about. I watched him coach, I sat and watched him do it.”
Next time Franklin makes his way to Oxford, Miss., which could be for an official visit, will be the 6-foot-5, 260 pounder’s seventh overall visit to campus.

No commitment timeline in place yet for Kamarion Franklin.
The blue chip defensive lineman tripped to Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, Miami, Texas A&M and Florida this spring. After those trips, he told On3’s Chad Simmons he was looking to cut things down and take the next step in his recruitment.
“I’m working to get my list down to around five schools and that should happen soon,” Franklin said. “Relationships are important for sure and who will develop me the best is important to. I want to be close to the coaches of the school I go to from my position coach to the defensive coordinator, I want to know them well.”
Miami (June 2), Tennessee (June 16) and LSU (June 23) are the only three schools to lock in official visits with him thus far. At this stage, he doesn’t have a commitment date planned and could take his decision all the way to December.
“I’m not sure when I will commit yet but it really doesn’t matter if it’s before my senior year or not,” Franklin said. “When I know, I’ll know. I’m not going to rush anything so I’ll take my time, take the visits I need to take and make the right decision whenever I feel ready.”
But as summer begins in the month of June, Franklin could be looking to book an official trip to once again check out Ole Miss.
“Really, Ole Miss is just prioritizing me.” Franklin said. “They’re telling me I’m a priority. They said they’re going to make it hard for me leave Ole Miss and Mississippi, period. They’re going to do everything they can to keep me home.
“They want to show me why Ole Miss is the place to be.”
