Four-star DB Jahmir Joseph recaps first Notre Dame visit, what’s next in recruitment

Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional class of 2025 defensive back Jahmir Joseph took a highly anticipated official visit over the weekend. The four-star prospect was in South Bend to get a 48-hour experience at Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish staff offered Joseph back in March, and this past weekend was Joseph’s first time getting a look at campus. From the activities to the time spent with the coaches, the 6-foot, 185-pounder seemed to have a great time at Notre Dame.

“We went to Coach [Marcus] Freeman’s house, played basketball, had some nice food, went golfing the next day and had a good competitive time,” Joseph told Blue & Gold regarding the highlights of the trip.

“I liked the campus. It all had a pretty good meaning about it, and it’s not too big where you will need to drive everywhere. It’s all walking distance, and that’s nice.”

Joseph has seen the Irish staff when they’ve stopped by his school, but a campus visit — especially the all-expenses paid official — offers a much more in-depth opportunity to get to know the coaches. And by all accounts, Joseph had a great experience with the Notre Dame staff.

“The coaches were cool — very down to earth,” Joseph added. “I was with Coach Free, Coach Al Golden and Coach [Mike] Mickens most of the time, but the whole staff treated me as family, and I just had met them.”

Penn State is considered a slight leader in his recruitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), but it’s anyone’s guess at this point as to where Joseph will actually end up. He’s now taken official visits to Stanford and Notre Dame, and he has two trips coming up that will be important.

“They have a good place in my recruitment,” Joseph said of Notre Dame. “I have good interest in them after that visit.

“I will be visiting Penn State next weekend and South Carolina the following weekend, and I’m planning on making my decision the beginning of July.”

One potential ace in the hole for Notre Dame in Joseph’s recruitment is one of its former players. Joseph comes from the same high school that produced former Irish star Audric Estime.

“Yes, I have spoke to Audric before about Notre Dame,” Joseph noted. “He has nothing but great stuff to say about Notre Dame. He said it changed his life in many aspects.”

Joseph ranks as the No. 182 overall prospect and No. 22 cornerback in America according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. The Fighting Irish are recruiting Joseph as a safety recruit.
