Four-star 2025 guard Jeremiah Green discusses Kansas State
While Kansas State has already landed elite guard David Castillo in the 2024 class, they are also actively recruiting the 2025 group as well. Some major targets in that particular cycle include guards Mikel Brown, Meleek Thomas, Akai Fleming and Jeremiah Green.
The differentiator between the four is that Green has already been to Manhattan. He was on hand for the K-State home game versus South Dakota on September. He has been in consistent communication with the Kansas State coaches.
“My relationship with the staff has been good,” he told KSO. “They came to my games in the first EYBL session and came to my school’s practice.”
The Lone Star State guard’s lead recruiter has been K-State assistant Ulric Maligi. Maligi has deep ties in the state of Texas and has made Green a priority.
“We’re really close and it’s helped I’ve known him for a couple years,” Green explained. “We speak like once a week. We talk about anything really but mostly about basketball. He always keeps it real with me and doesn’t just say what I want to hear.”
In just one year, Kansas State has became a viral sensation. Part of it was Markquis Nowell bursting onto the national scene in the NCAA Tournament and the style of play from K-State and marketing their product so well throughout those handful of months.
All of it has caught Green’s eye.
“They let their players play freely and trust them,” he noted. “The Elite Eight run was impressive and cool for me to see them at the start. It shows they have a great coaching staff and culture.”
Missouri, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Texas, West Virginia and TCU have also offered the sophomore guard. He does not have a list of top schools right now and is waiting until he visits more schools. He is in the process of figuring out what schools he wants to see.
“I haven’t really thought about visits too much,” he shared. “But I’ll talk with my parents about which schools we will visit since the rules have changed.”
His visit in Manhattan in September left a strong first impression of Kansas State.
“It was fun,” Green said. “The fans showed a lot of love and I liked the campus. My favorite part of the visit was when the crowd at the football game started chanting my name.”
Other programs that have hosted Green are Texas A&M, TCU and Oklahoma State.
“K-State did a lot more on the visit versus the others,” the four-star combo guard admitted. “We visited most of the school, watched film, met the strength coach, trainer and all of the other coaches. They had individual meetings with me about what they do and how I fit in with their team and system.”
While he does not have a commitment date in mind, he does know what he is looking for in a school.
“Something that feels like home and a team that fits me and helps me get to the league,” Green replied. “I want to play in a system that plays through the guards and with a fast pace.”
