Former Alabama DL LaBryan Ray plans to sign with Carolina Panthers

Former Alabama defensive lineman LaBryan Ray is signing a deal with Carolina Panthers, according to a tweet from his agency.

Ray spent time last offseason with the New England Patriots after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played this spring and summer with the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL and is the first player signed by an NFL franchise off the 2023 Stars roster.

A former five-star recruit out of Madison (Ala.) James Clemens, Ray was the No. 20 overall recruit in the retroactive 2017 On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Ray was also the No. 4 EDGE rusher in the class and the No. 1 recruit out of the state of Alabama.
