The No. 2 seed Florida Gators (27-4, 14-4 SEC) open SEC Tournament play on Friday with a rematch against Missouri in the quarterfinal.

The Tigers (22-10, 10-8 SEC) beat UF in Gainesville on Jan. 18 and Thursday’s win over Mississippi State snapped a three-game losing streak.

Game notes

* Friday marks the 16th meeting between Florida and Missouri. The Gators lead the all-time series 10-5, but the Tigers handed them their only home loss this season.

* Florida enters postseason play off one of the most successful regular seasons in program history, notching the second-most regular season wins (27) in program history and tying for the team’s second-most SEC wins (14). The Gators are one of three teams to rate in the top 10 nationally in both offensive and defensive efficiency alongside Duke and Houston and finished the regular season winning nine of 10.

* Walter Clayton Jr. is the first player in Florida history to earn first-team All-American honors. Clayton’s two-season run ranks among the all-time best in UF history. His 1,150 points are the third-most by a Gator over two seasons in program history, trailing only Neal Walk (1,312) and Nick Calathes (1,170). His 177 3-pointers are the fifth-most by a Gator over two seasons. Clayton has also made a 3-pointer in a UF-record 53 consecutive appearances.

* Clayton’s 74 points in last season’s SEC Tournament are a UF record for most in on SEC Tournament. The Gators played four games in their run to the title game, and Clayton earned All-SEC Tournament Team honors for his effort.

* All-SEC selection Alex Condon’s six double-doubles included all three of the Gators’ top-10 wins this season. Condon became the second player in Florida history to win SEC Player of the Week three times (Jalen Hudson, 2017-18).
